I was talking to a friend’s little girl, and she said she wanted to be President someday. Both of her parents, liberal Democrats, were standing there, so I asked her, ‘If you were to be the President, what is the first thing you would do?’
She replied, ‘I’d give food and houses to all the homeless people.’ ‘Wow – what a worthy goal.’ I told her, ‘you don’t have to wait until you’re President to do that. You can come over to my house and mow, pull weeds, and sweep my sidewalks and driveway, and I’ll pay you $50. Then I’ll take you over to the grocery store where the homeless guy hangs out, and you can give him the $50 to use toward food or a new house.’
She thought that over for a few seconds ‘cause she’s only 6. And while her Mom glared at me, the little girl looked me straight in the eye and asked, “Why doesn’t the homeless guy come over and do the work, and you can just pay him the $50?”
And I said, “Welcome to the Republican Party, sweetheart.”
This little ditty has been a meme circulating in social media circles these past few weeks. The message is strikingly true.
63% of illegals are on public assistance. Is that where our money should be spent? This does not include our own citizens on public assistance. The wage earners in America do not have unlimited resources, there is a finite amount of funds to be spent on the safety and security of Americans, our infrastructure, and the governmental necessities on behalf of the American people. We have continued in this country to spend far more than we take in. There is a big divide in the country as to where monies should be spent, and there are so many politicians with their hands in the cookie jar for their own personal and professional enrichment, while looking at the wage earners as their personal piggy banks, it is ridiculous.
President Trump came into office understanding the economics of paying more than you have and of trade imbalances affecting Americans. He has made phenomenal progress in trade with Mexico and Canada, and has put America in a better trade position with other countries such as China.
I’d like to see more done to cut the waste in government, such as Nancy Pelosi taking her relatives on junkets on our dime, or all of the unnecessary perks the Senators and Congress people enjoy such as their slush funds, and trips when they don’t even work a full week in their jobs. This includes State and local waste as well as pensions. Government cannot just continue to go to the well of the taxpayer and take it from them.
If we continue in the direction of the leftist socialist ideologues now in congress, who want to have income equalization whereupon those who work will pay for those who don’t, our way of life will be forever lost.
There will be no incentive to work, or to be educated, or to excel. The idea of our forefathers that America be founded on a free society where you can succeed to your highest potential by hard work and innovation and be rewarded for it, will be lost.
Find me a socialist government that works, anywhere. You can’t because it doesn’t. Why then would this reckless and irresponsible position be gaining in popularity? Is it because free sounds great? Nothing is free.
We have stopped teaching civics and history in our schools. We have stopped teaching the lessons of the failure of socialism around the world. Students have no understanding of the concepts of capitalism; the destructiveness of socialism and a context of history as a lens to view the consequences of this ideology. This is no mistake, it has been purposeful and over a long period of time. We cannot stand by and watch the slow demise of America by those who have only their only interests in their minds.
We need to get back to basics of God, Country and American values. We need to pay attention to what our schools are teaching. Pay attention to what your local and State politicians are doing and vote them out if they are taking more than they are giving; releasing criminals to re-victimize us, failing to support the rule of law and those who are here to enforce it, spending your money irresponsibly, and promoting divisiveness.
I suggest re-reading the constitution, or reading it for the first time if you were never taught American History. It is our guiding principle and we are straying too far.
We are at a crossroads America, and I vote for the patriot side. Unless you want to earn your $50.00 and go hand it to someone else, re-think about your American dream, and your family, and your future. It should be your decision of how to spend that $50.00, who to help, what doctor to see, where to live. The waste and political obstructionism in all levels of government is out of hand, and the reigns are in our hands to lead this country to future prosperity or to be a Venezuela look-alike.
As we flood the country with uneducated and unskilled immigrants who drain our resources, fill our prisons, and strain our medical system, it is a time to rationally get a handle on illegal immigration, and focus on legal immigrants who are an asset to America.
What is the future of America? We all need to really think about that, and then take action to keep America that shining place on the hill that Ronald Reagan saw, and that great place that President Trump sees. It’s no longer the time to sit and watch the game from the sidelines, but to educate yourself on how we keep America for our future and those of future generations.
