Our Founding Fathers did not wake up one day and decide to declare independence. They spent years and decades watching as their rights as British citizens were infringed upon and their colonial charters violated. Seeing that the object of this long train of abuses was their falling under absolute despotism, they declared their independence, pledging to support it with their lives, their fortunes, and their sacred honor.
Today, we again see a long train of abuses whose object is to reduce us under absolute despotism. Will the American people recognize their right and duty to throw off those who commit those abuses, attempting to grind us under their despotism? Will we pledge to each other our lives, fortunes, and sacred honor to support freedom, rights, and liberty? I don’t mean will we pledge to die for liberty, although some of us may. I’m asking if the American people will pledge to live their lives as free citizens in the face of the bullying and intimidation coming out of our governments at all levels. While those in government can bully, threaten, intimidate, even incarcerate, only you can submit to their tyranny.
