It’s been a week since the midterm elections, and while the results are not fully known, a look at what we know does give us a general idea of the direction the American people want this nation to go. I don’t know if this is what the majority of Americans want, or even what a majority of those who vote considered. Still, I think it proves George Washington’s warning was correct; party politics is its own frightful despotism.
I think this recent election shows that our attachment to political parties seems to outweigh our love of freedom. After all, if so many people are so dissatisfied with the direction this country is going, why did we vote for the same type of people to point the way for the next two years? Maybe Albert Einstein was correct; the American people, as a group, are insane.
