In 1946, a firefight broke out in the streets of Athens, Tennessee, in an attempt to prevent the stealing of another election. A group of veterans attempted to challenge the corrupt political machine at the ballot box in their county, but the corruption had gone on too long. The only option these war veterans had to protect their rights and restore legitimate government was an armed uprising.
As I look at the 2020 elections, and what has been done in response, I see the American people doing many of the same things that led to the revolt in 1946. Will we condemn some future generation to fight to regain their rights on the battlefield, because we were unwilling to fight for them at the ballot box? Will the American people learn their lesson from history? The choice is yours. The responsibility is yours.
