Those who refuse to learn from history are doomed to repeat it.
I’m old enough to remember the Soviet Union and the Marxist nations it held under its sway. I remember the wall separating East and West Germany, the secret police of the various Eastern Bloc nations, and the violent suppression of any dissent. I also remember the rhetoric about how the Marxist dictators had to rule with an iron fist in order to bring about the utopian classless society they kept promising but never delivered. I also remember when most people thought that not only had Marxist Theory failed but that it would be forever banished from the face of the earth.
They were wrong.
Today, we see the same flaw and destructive ideas but with different names like Antifa, BLM, DEI, Wokism, The 1619 Project, and, scariest of all, Corporate America.
What are the effects of our modern infatuation with Marxism? What does this bode for our future? I see the same poverty-riddled, totalitarian dystopian nightmare that led to walls being needed to keep people in. Walls patrolled by armed guards with orders to shoot anyone trying to leave the alleged workers’ paradise that anyone could see was nothing but a nightmare.
