Is Russia really the Superpower they think they are? By the sloppy conduct of their invasion of Ukraine, it could be argued that they are not. Putin, who thought four days would do it put false trust in his Generals. It has been four weeks and counting. Watching from afar, a surprised China is giving pause about their intentions to seize Taiwan simply because world reaction and Ukrainian push back, being so demonstrably successful, might inspire the Taiwanese to emulate them. The Chinese have no concerns anymore about Biden’s response. They know what it will be because they own him. But so do the Ukrainians.

Russia’s invasion of Ukraine has revealed serious weaknesses in equipment, training, planning, leadership, and motivation. Miscalculation of Ukraine’s ability to resist has shown that years of corruption by Russian Generals, who raked off defense funds into their personal accounts, has produced inferior equipment, poor training, and poor planning, causing it to fall easily prey to Ukrainian determination.

Russia has a very thin to non-existent NCO Corps, and its junior officers, without skills or given the authority to make battlefield decisions in the heat of combat, Undoubtedly this accounts for the deaths so far, of four, possibly a fifth or more, front-line Russian General Officers. These last two issues alone can account for Russian conscript soldiers’ high desertion and surrender rates.

A lack of food and fuel supply has found Russian equipment abandoned undamaged on Ukrainian roads in sub-freezing weather, deserted by their hungry and freezing crews willing to surrender for food and warmth. Too, over-consumption of alcohol use by unmotivated soldiers has seriously contributed to Putin’s slow advance.

Since the 1991 collapse of the Soviet Union, Russia’s military has doubtless stood very low in the pecking order for funding because Russia, suddenly converted from Soviet dictatorship to whatever it is now, had no real enemies anymore to defend itself against. Eastern European countries, also liberated, were going their own ways, and Western Europe got soft; Tourism flourished, and America, uninterested in anything but a stable Russia, deferred to the quiet on the Eastern front while turning our attention to the growing threat of Islamic terrorism. All but ignored was a growing post-Mao China seeing its future in trade and commerce as the best weapons to undermine and subvert the West, especially America. Joe Biden is our most obvious example of a CCP plant.

A somnambulant NATO, just in case, invited more prior-Soviet States to its numbers, which raised serious alarms to the Russians who were, basically helpless to do anything about it. NATO, including the US, just assumed that the Russian military, still weakened by their losing experience in Afghanistan and the Soviet collapse, was moribund and presented no real threat to the rest of the world. Then came Vladimir Putin, the last of Russian-style iron-fisted dictators who reasserted Russian prominence with attacks against Georgia and Chechnya, bringing them back into the Russian fold. The West did nothing. He wanted Crimea back as well and took it in 2014, and the West ignored Putin’s warnings.

All was well for those couple of decades that lulled NATO countries into relaxing their guard. Many reduced their GDP contributions to support a NATO military posture they thought was no longer needed. Russia, always the anticipated villain, wasn’t threatening, but it did have gas and oil to sell that Europe didn’t have, and wouldn’t it be nice if Russia could be tamed by purchasing their petroleum products?

From the time the Soviet Union collapsed, Europe proceeded on the basis that Russia presented no problems and, if they did, America would intervene and protect them, and the “peace dividend” would loosen more funds to spend on socially foolish things like meddling with immigration, investing in Russian pipelines, ignoring other sources for their winter heating needs. Even Bill Clinton embraced the peace dividend idea and let our military slowly morph into a peace-time army while, at the same time, supplying China with our rocket guidance data.

Unlike Russia, China’s military machine, with a new blue water fleet including two aircraft carriers, massive ranks of soldiers male and female, goose-stepping in precise unison in beautiful uniforms, haven’t been battle-tested yet. China’s last excursion into naked aggression was its 1979 invasion of Vietnam after we departed, and the Vietnamese stopped them cold.

China’s best method of warfare is infiltration. It has no capability to project its military reach to American shores without detection except by ICBMs. It can’t use tanks to attack America and has no capability of getting their war machine, including troops and equipment, hereby water without being sunk within sight of their own shores, and they know this. The Chinese, like North Korea, do have a nuclear weapons capability and rockets to deliver them, but we also have that capability. The Chinese are not stupid. They see occupying space, such as buying poor countries with seaports, as well as their trick card, launching killer satellites to neutralize ours, and satellite-based weapons to be released to fall to their targets below as a near-perfect way to embrace the whole world. Who would’ve thought? They’re buying land space and entering outer space with equal zeal.

Warfare is changing, and a scientifically and technologically advanced China doesn’t need great masses of armored vehicles or fleets of ships to overcome their enemy. They are doing it by infiltration, subterfuge, and subversion. They are here already, in the thousands. They have bought naval bases on the coast of Africa, bases around India, control the Panama Canal for the Panamanian government, and intrude anywhere where a poverty-stricken nation needs cash advances and is willing to mortgage their naval bases to the Chineses to get it.

China is not our immediate problem. That will come sooner rather than later. It is to cleanse our government of its Marxist enemies. We’re not prepared for bloodletting yet, although it has started in Blue cities already, but voting will have to work until it becomes apparent once again that Democrats have screwed with our elections to retain their power. Expect it; it’s coming!

We’ve seen what the Russian Army is capable of and have learned how it can be stopped. We are not al all sanguine about China’s military capabilities. They apparently have a great military machine, but can they use it effectively? That’s yet to be determined, but time will tell.

Remember, freedom is the goal; the Constitution is the way. Now, get involved.

Russia has a small defensive force, a modern 21 century army. The “special operations” as Putin called it basically means it is not a full war(like Iraq or Libya) Carpet bombing would cause massive casualties. And Putin gave strict orders to protect civilians. ( Despite all the war propaganda we get, 50-80% of the population is Russian. Ukrainian is also just a dialect of the Russian language. The two nations are very close. Many Ukrainians go work to Russia. Every family has Russian family members.) Russia took out the Ukrainian air defense in the first day and a half. The same thing took the US 3-4 days in the Iraq war. The Ukraine is also 2-3 times bigger than Iraq is.There are 350-500 km long supply lines for the Russians The major cities as well as the Eastern Ukrainian forces are unfortunately encircled. The size of the Russian army in the Ukraine is to small for an invasion or take over. They just created a large front-line. Russian forces are annihilating the Ukrainian army.
