Art Imitating Life through Cartoons
Ben Garrison, a cartoonist, Twitter handle, describes his cartoons as “mostly peaceful cartoons spreading hope and love!” The left, however, sees his cartoons as anything but that. They view him and his cartoons as alt-right propaganda and even got him booted off the social media platform.
Garrison says “After Dark” that he had nearly 300,000 followers before being trolled by the left, and Twitter suspended his account. He says he thinks the left doesn’t like his work because it strikes a chord with viewers, and they want to silence him.
The cartoonist, who has been drawing cartoons for 12 years, says his first viral cartoon happen in 2010. It was an anti-Federal Reserve drawing to protest the bailout of banks. Thinking nothing of it, he posted it to his blog and shared it with a few friends. The next thing he knew, it went viral. To his surprise, there was a lot of pushback as the cartoon was seen as attacking the Federal Reserve. He said, “If you push against the Federal Reserve and central bank… and your work is effective, you will get push back.”
Because his drawings are popular amongst conservatives, many on the left refer to him as being an alt-right cartoonist. He says he thinks the end game of the left is to silence anyone who disagrees with them but that he isn’t going to give in. He said he would continue doing his cartoons and putting them out there.
Garrison said he views himself as a libertarian who wants fewer laws, fewer taxes, and the government to protect our borders and our liberties.
Ben Garrison is a political cartoonist. His artwork has been featured in Breibart, Politico, The Federalist Papers, ZeroHedge, and InfoWars. He supports the Constitution and the 2nd amendment and stands up for freedom of speech. According to his website, the mainstream media won’t run his politically incorrect cartoons. He and his wife, Tina, who is also an artist, are based in Montana.
