Joe Biden’s Presidency has been disastrous for Americans and our nation. His radically Leftist domestic policies have set Americans at each other’s throats. His foreign policies have moved us closer to economic bankruptcy and dominance by an increasingly warlike China. We are already in a proxy war with Russia at great financial expense.
On Joe Biden’s policies, performance, and outcomes, why any Republican, much less a conservative Republican, would entertain supporting Joe Biden’s quest for a second term beginning in 2025 is inconceivable. Likewise, why any sane Independent voter would support Joe Biden for another term is unfathomable.
But all of this is moot. Joe Biden’s physical health is deteriorating, and his cognitive challenges are mounting. In short, Joe Biden has no business running for a second term and putting the nation at extreme risk to satisfy his ego. The Presidency is not a ceremonial position. The President is the nation’s Chief Executive Officer and Commander in Chief. Joe Biden has neither the physical stamina nor cognitive abilities to perform either function currently.
Unquestionably, the Presidency is the most physically stressful job in the country, demanding long days of travel and hours of policy discussions, and constant decision-making. Yet, who believes Joe Biden has the physical ability, stamina, and coordination to serve as President of the United States from now on?
This past week, Joe Biden took a nasty fall on stage at the Air Force Academy graduation ceremonies. It’s his seventh physical fall in the past three years, and it was as pathetically revealing of his growing infirmity as his set of triple stumbles up the stairway to Air Force One or his fall from his bicycle some months ago. We can see that Joe Biden’s gait is stiff, and he shuffles his feet instead of picking them up when he walks. He also often looks unaware of his physical surroundings.
I agree these degenerative physical abilities are not in and of themselves disqualifying. For example, the issue of falling could be easily solved by having Joe Biden use a walker. But like many other men in their 80s, he would not want to be seen using ambulatory assistance.
On the other hand, Joe Biden’s marked decline in cognitive acuity and other brain processing abilities are disqualifying. Joe Biden hasn’t had the “cognitive acuity” to be President since his campaign for the office began in 2019 and likely for several years prior.
Joe Biden displayed cognitive issues long before his Presidency. Therefore, the supposition has been that Joe would merely be a Trojan Horse President. In theory, other senior political operatives would be in charge of policy, and Joe would be essentially a figurehead. I have seen no evidence to disprove this theory.
Cognitive acuity “is the capacity to detect correctness and to distinguish between differences in correctness among simultaneously presented situation-specific response options.” Unquestionably, the President must demonstrate a high degree of cognitive acuity.
Problem comprehension and timely decisions are crucial for any president. But, unfortunately, anyone watching Joe Biden’s behavior over the past three years cannot honestly believe he’s quick on issue comprehension or quick to articulate his thought process and deliver timely decisions. His staff has written everything we hear from Joe Biden in advance. And his near paranoid avoidance of taking any unvetted question from the press speaks to his impaired cognitive functions. The risks to the nation of having a president unable to think on his feet and quickly and wisely respond are inexcusable.
Additionally, we know less about Biden’s current health from his examining physicians than we knew about Presidents Clinton, Bush, Obama, and Trump. Therefore, based on his current prognosis, Joe Biden has no business in the Oval Office today, much less for seeking a second term.
Ron DeSantis
Governor DeSantis is 44 years old, married, and the father of three young children. Yet, his physical fitness is outstanding. As the Chief Executive of Florida, the 13th largest economy in the World, his physical stamina and agility have never been questioned. Moreover, the conservative political renaissance DeSantis has led in Florida in four short years proves his cognitive acuity for rigorous debate and decision-making.
DeSantis speaks in complete and cogent sentences and handles complex political, social, cultural, and economic subjects with complete comprehension and aplomb.
Of the three, Biden, DeSantis, and Trump, the Governor is clearly in the best health and the most likely to remain so as the next President.
Donald Trump
Donald Trump is 76 years old. It appears that he continues to struggle with his weight. But despite that, he has always shown remarkable stamina and ceaseless energy. It is well known that Trump doesn’t drink alcohol or smoke and is an active golfer.
As for Trump’s cognitive acuity, it is every bit as sharp as someone half his age. Where Joe Biden often loses his train of thought when speaking extemporaneously, Trump never wants for words and expresses his opinions clearly. Moreover, while in the Whitehouse, Trump was a prodigious executive, working long hours and through weekends.
Donald Trump easily gave 70 to 75 hours a week to the Presidency. By contrast, Joe Biden leaves the Whitehouse at 3 pm on Fridays for his home in Delaware and returns to the Whitehouse late Monday mornings. Biden works, on average, 20 hours a week as President. Apparently, someone else is running the show. I do not doubt that Donald Trump will fulfill all the duties of the Presidency should he win the 2024 election.
