Decisions are made each day regarding the content you will choose to consume. America will sit in front of television sets, watch game shows, watch soap operas and news, and distract themselves with the information they deem useful. On most networks, the stories are the same, with the coverage only changing depending on whether the network leans left or right. The alternative media found online in substacks, podcasts, YouTube, and Rumble is finding a niche where mainstream networks have failed.
This new form of media dissemination is creating balance in a field where balance was not possible years ago. More people are free to have their stories, research, and views published and heard by a larger audience. This provides equality in ways that create more polarity in the news cycle. It should always be the job of a reputable news source to be fair and impartial. Unfortunately, this fairness is mainly absent.
The scales of lady justice and equity have long favored those with money to be best represented. We now see that the same logic applies to news networks. Those with the most money are the ones marketing their news to the masses. Meanwhile, podcast hosts and alternative media are trying to tell other stories. We focus on individuals that are deemed unworthy of mainstream coverage. Or, we shine a light on those the mainstream coverage glossed over and dismissed. Oftentimes, we find the story within a story.
Creating balance on a podcast is difficult. There are many emails, and phone calls left unreturned. Far more than one may imagine. The emails and calls that are returned often do not agree to be interviewed based on perception, inability to speak on a topic, needing job clearance, or, fear of appearing on a show.
There are often not enough individuals willing to speak up. Finding balance, equality, and equity is a difficult task. I believe the alternative media is doing better work to establish this for the future.
