The proportion of the US population that considered itself ‘atheist’ in 1991 was only 2%, and though there is a belief among many that the United States is becoming less religious, the percent of Americans considering themselves ‘atheists’ last year was only 3.1%. Americans are not really becoming more atheist so much as they are becoming less Christian, and that is not the same thing.

My wife had a friend who said she was spiritual but not Christian, and I think this is true of a good many people. It’s also dangerous. My wife learned over time that her friend was not a very good person (and they have lost touch as a result), but I knew what was going on as soon as she described her spiritualism. Her brand of ‘spiritualism’ was not grounded in the world around her, but was rather focused internally, and any religion that does not manifest itself in the world around it is inherently narcissistic. Gosia’s friend was a narcissist, and as Gosia got to know her better, the narcissism became painfully obvious.

Gosia’s friend was, of course, on the political left. To her, believing the right things made her a good person, in spite of the fact that one of the big reasons she wanted the government to do everything was that she was too lazy to do anything herself. Why should she give to charity when she can make someone else pay more in taxes instead?

As our country slowly becomes less and less Christian, we seem to be replacing it with this same form of narcissistic spirituality where more and more of us want to ‘trust the experts with a totalitarian government that is the provider of all things and the solver of all problems. Instead of giving of ourselves to help those who are less fortunate, we vote for the government to take from ‘the rich’ and to solve all of the world’s problems for us, while we drink Lattes and pat ourselves on the back for worshiping at the altars of Anthony Fauci and George Floyd.

Russell Brand describes his religious belief as ‘mystical,’ and though I’m not really sure what that means, it sounds like a form of spiritualism, but one that, unlike my wife’s former friend, is grounded in the world around him. I view Russell Brand as someone who wants to make the world a better place, but who doesn’t always know how best to do that. He’s been saying things the political left does not like and is about to find himself alienated from them, but he’s OK with that.

Russell Brand is inquisitive and intelligent, and like Bill Maher, sometimes he almost starts to understand things.

Bill Maher’s problem is that whenever he realizes something that should make him open to leaning more Republican, rather than saying, “The left is completely whacked, and I can’t be a part of that anymore,” he says something along the lines of, “The left is completely whacked, and that is a problem as it means people might not vote for them anymore.”

Every time I hear him say something like this, I scratch my head and think, “Bill – you are an intelligent man. How does it not occur to you that the problem is not that people don’t vote for the left, but that the left is whacked, and people vote for it anyway!” I keep thinking Bill Maher is going to suddenly get it, but so far, no such luck…

Russell Brand is a little different in that you’ll sometimes see a light pop on, as happened recently when he was chatting with Bjorn Lomborg about climate change, but then rather than seeing the truth, Russell Brand sometimes takes a left turn (as he did with Bjorn Lomborg) and says something like, “So what you are saying is that it is not possible to get the battery storage we need under our present global economic system, but if we could just throw that all away and make people do it, then we can do whatever we want and build our economy around wind, solar, and batteries, no matter how expensive.”

I don’t know Russell Brand well enough to know what all his form of spiritualism entails, but there is something in it that is completely anthemic to true freedom. Russell Brand says he wants freedom, but then he says that capitalism is a system of oppression and tyranny, when in fact, capitalism (more accurately called ‘free markets’) is what occurs when the government leaves people alone to live their lives as they wish, which is also the definition of ‘freedom.’

If you don’t want free markets, you don’t really want freedom. What you want is control. Russell Brand’s comments here indicate that part of his spiritualism includes the belief that all of our economic decisions must be controlled. I don’t think Russell Brand understands that without economic freedom (free markets), there is very little freedom left to have. Russell Brand also believes in the religion of what I call ‘Expertianity.’

What is ‘Expertianity,’ you ask? Expertianity is the belief that any claim a so-called ‘expert’ makes must always be 100% scientifically true. Those who wear masks alone in their own cars because Anthony Fauci told us two masks are better than one ⏤ are followers of ‘Expertianity.’ Expertianity even has its version of heretics – they call them ‘conspiracy theorists,’ ‘<insert word> deniers,’ or some other such thing.

One would think that more recent revelations about Covid-19, along with the Russian Collusion hoax, and everything else the ‘experts’ have been completely wrong about over the past few years, would make people understand that even actual experts are not infallible, and that those who claim to be ‘experts’ on TV may have motives that prevent them from speaking the truth.

What’s worse is that many people who are not ‘experts’ at all claim to ‘follow the experts’ and then say things that have no basis in truth. Gretchen Whitmer’s lockdown policies come to mind.

Let’s review how the ‘experts’ have done so far in relation to Climate Alarmism…

1969:  According to Eric Strach (a so-called ‘expert’), if we do not address global cooling, the world will be uninhabitable in 20 years. The globe is cooling due to man-made pollutants, and the science on that is settled.

1978:  If we do not cover the arctic ice caps with soot to capture heat, the world will be uninhabitable in 20 years. Look at the winters over the past few years. Of COURSE, the globe is cooling due to man-made pollutants. Look at the smog in California – the science is settled!

1990:  It sure has gotten warmer over the past 100 years! Look at the data that proved cooling 12 years ago. We took another look, and now we see a hockey stick of warming, starting with the industrial revolution. The science is still settled (even if it has reversed), and if we do not stop using fossil fuels, the Earth will be uninhabitable in 20 years.

2000: Hello. I’m Al Gore, and I want to tell you an inconvenient truth. If we do not stop using fossil fuels, we will all be dead by 2016. The science on that is settled.

2016: Hello. I’m Al Gore again, the rightful winner of the 2000 election, an election that was totally stolen from me, and nobody can doubt that. Why on EARTH did you vote for THAT guy?!? He colluded with Russia – just ask Hillary – and THIS election was stolen as well! Geez. Republicans just keep stealing elections! Oh, and by the way, unless we address climate change RIGHT NOW, we will all be dead in 20 years. The science is settled on that, and I already TOLD you that you would all be dead by now, so you know I am telling the TRUTH about EVERYTHING.

2020: How DARE you?!? I’m Greta Thunberg, and you and your WARMING that should have KILLED YOU in 1989 – before I was even BORN – have ruined the childhood I WAS NEVER EVEN SUPPOSED TO HAVE!! How DARE you?!? And don’t insult me, because I am a CHILD who likes SAILBOATS, and I have autism, so you have to LISTEN TO ME when I say the SCIENCE IS SETTLED!! Oh – and questioning the validity of elections was totally cool in 2000 and 2016, but today it is TREASON, and you are all going to JAIL!!

Today: Hi. I’m ah, Joe. Biden, Jack. Jack Biden. I mean Joe. The science is, you know. CODE RED! TEN YEARS! DEATH! DESTRUCTION! YOU KNOW THE THING! Oh, and that Hunter/China thing? That’s nothing. The science is settled. 81 million votes, you lying pony dog-soldier! And I would know – I was THERE!

We now know that everything we were told about Covid-19 (other than that it existed) was a lie. We now know that the ‘experts’ lie all the time about basically everything. Climate Change, like Covid, is real, but the alarmism? When are people going to start seeing through it? How expensive does heating a home have to get before more people have had enough?

Do you want some ACTUAL science? Here it is: the only viable alternative to fossil fuels currently in existence is nuclear, and the same people forcing us off natural gas (the cleanest and least co2 producing viable form of energy not called ‘nuclear’) want it banned.

The ‘experts’ lie, but those practicing Expertiology are too stupid to see it, and so we all pay in spite of all the failed predictions the ‘experts’ keep making.

We have been playing this climate alarmist game for 54 years. Wake up people – it is as much a lie now as it was in 1969.

Before Climate Alarmism, it was Peak Oil and the Club of Rome. There is ALWAYS  an alarmist prediction being used to justify totalitarianism, and there are always totalitarian wannabees vying for power. The only thing different this time around is that the totalitarians are suddenly global in scope, and are far closer to actually taking over than they ever have been before.

Joe Biden, Justin Trudeau, Emmanuel Macron, and the rest? They are empty vessels doing as they are told. The real power operates behind the scenes, and also has control over our media.

Bjorn Lomborg believes climate change to be a real problem (as do I), but let us be honest about the alarmism. We are not in a ‘Flash – I LOVE you, but we only have ten hours to save the Earth!’ kind of moment. We have at least 100 years to address this, and as human populations start to decline over the next 40 or so odd years, we might have more time than that.

Let us also wake up to the fact that we do not currently have the technology to go carbon neutral, and we need to avoid the temptation to try until such time as that changes.

What I want people to understand is that just because you find you have a problem, that does not mean you currently have a solution. Furthermore, spreading ‘awareness’ by creating a false sense of hysteria is not going to magically produce a solution, and when that hysteria leads to a push toward ‘solutions,’ that will never work, even if those solutions cause carnage and death.

What I don’t think Russell Brand understands is that this kind of thinking is how you build pyramids, but it is not how you build a functional society. People like Russel Brand think that if you throw out the market economy, you can do whatever you want. He does not understand that economic forces are still at play.

There is no economic system that could make enough battery storage to run an economy off of wind and solar, but it is possible to kill a great many people trying, and if we listen to the Russell Brands of the world, that is where they will lead us.

And Russell – if you see this, I’m sorry I keep picking on you. I do so because you seem like someone who should be able to totally wake up.

Russell Brand, Bernie Sanders, AOC – these are not serious people. They are ideologues who are so in love with a utopian vision that they would follow it no matter how much carnage trying to build it would cause.

Serious people understand the first rule of economics, which is that there is never enough of anything to meet all potential demands. Once you realize that there is no such thing as ‘enough,’ you also realize that there are no economic solutions to any of the world’s problems. All we have are trade-offs.

Real leaders make the best trade-offs possible.

We do not have real leaders. We have instead a political party that has been using the power of government to prop up ‘green energy,’ and that is now willing to flush our entire banking system down the toilet to bail those initiatives out, by propping up the failed banks that focused on ‘green’ companies as depositors.

If this leads to a global depression, understand that it will be because the Biden Administration found depression to be a better trade-off than having its entire political agenda go up in bankruptcy. And as soon as Janet Yellen testified to Congress that the government would not bail out banks in ‘middle America,’ that fact became perfectly clear.

Our government is actively selling us out.

Our government is intentionally flushing our economy down the toilet to chase a utopian ‘green’ ideology – an ideology that is not economically feasible (which is why it is bankrupt). Chasing good money after bad will not end well.

‘Green’ is a sunk cost. Let it go. If we want to have food in two years, we need to drill for more natural gas. It’s a damn shame that those who follow Expertiology (the narcissist’s religion) won’t let us.
