In recent years the term “Cancel Culture” has been thrust into our vocabulary with its associated actions. The left has started this movement, and it is carried out in various ways and multiple industries. What I find fascinating about Cancel Culture is how it always seems to have an opposite effect on its intended actions and demonstrates additional contradictions that live on the left.

If I had to describe what Cancel Culture is trying to do, it consists of scrubbing people, faces, and products from our society. The reasons for the scrub vary; they land in two categories from my perspective.

I see cancellations as a way to punish people who do not align with the left or who choose not to speak out in support of the current left narrative. Hollywood is a prime example of this. Actors and actresses who tend to have conservative views or do not speak up in support of current leftist topics are then targeted by the goon squad, and the powers that be, make sure those actors careers are, in essence, ruined. The left dominates Hollywood, and it is very easy to damage someone’s career with a simple word-of-mouth approach. What the left doesn’t realize is that conservatives welcome these actors, and they always seem to find a way not just to survive but thrive.

Another interesting aspect of cancel culture, which I don’t understand, is the removal of images from products that the left deems racist. The left constantly perpetuates this idea of systemic racism while simultaneously screaming about a lack of representation. This contradiction is one that I cannot make sense of. The left successfully had the image of Uncle Ben and Aunt Jemima removed from their respective products. The idea behind this is that the cultural and historical associations of the lives of these two people are rooted in slavery, and as a result, they should not be “used” to sell a product. Where my confusion lies is that these two people were beautiful household images that told a story and offered a visual representation of African Americans. So while the story of slavery and racism is perpetuated, there was no thought of increasing the lack of representation.

The left always seems to abandon individual choices when making these decisions.

Rather than choosing not to see a movie that stars a conservative actor, they ruin that actor’s career. Instead of not purchasing Uncle Ben’s rice, they ruin the company’s and person’s legacy, all based on a false narrative.

Comparatively, conservatives lean in on boycotts and choose to have our voices heard by where we spend our dollars.

In recent weeks we saw the overwhelming damage done by boycotting Bud Light after they chose to promote a trans influencer and placing him on their cans. Conservatives made individual choices and ultimately, as a collective, hit the pocket of Budweiser.

Just when we thought it couldn’t get any worse, Target literally and figuratively said, “Hold my beer,” and upped the ante on how woke they would be. For their Pride Month, Target chose to put all their clothing and merchandise front and center of their stores and added in a majority of kids’ merchandise. Additionally, the influx of trans-associated products was concerning and set the stage for conservatives to stop shopping at Target. A loss of nine billion dollars in one week told the corporate oligarchs that we would not tolerate Satan’s agenda being forced onto our children.
