Alvin Bragg, the infamous district of attorney in New York City, has finally found a crime (in his mind) that he wants to prosecute. Never mind that the crime isn’t much more than a misdemeanor, and the statute of limitations has run out. Yet Bragg, who has the support and funding of liberal billionaire George Soros, has found his crime and this ticket to high office.

Bragg is looking to make a name for himself using former Republican President Donald Trump as the foil. Until a few days ago, Bragg seemed prepared to pull the trigger and have Trump perp walk in New York City on trumped-up charges that many in the media on the left and right are calling a big stretch. Most, if not all, legal experts (even those who dislike Trump) are questioning Bragg’s decision to possibly indict the former president for inaccurately misreporting a business expense on tax returns.

Bragg calls the inaccurate tax reporting hush money paid to a porn actress, Stormy Daniels, by Michael Cohen, a one-time Trump attorney. Cohen, who is Bragg’s star witness against Trump, testified before a grand jury that Trump instructed him to make the payment.

The problem is that Cohen told his attorney, Robert Costello, that Trump never instructed such payments. Cohen also told Federal Investigators the same thing but later lied, changed his story, and ended up in jail for two years. Now that he is out of jail, he wants revenge against his former boss, Trump.

While all of this is happening, the crime rate in New York City is at an all-time high. Why? Well, Bragg has instructed his office not to prosecute certain crimes. He has also decided to make some felonies and misdemeanors. In other words, Bragg is turning a blind eye to serious offenses in favor of lesser crimes.

Randy Street, an attorney with the law firm Street & Street, said from looking at the case, it is his opinion Bragg is overreaching in charging Trump. Street said what he has learned; it seems Bragg’s entire case is politically motivated and designed to stop Trump’s presidential run. He also cautioned Trump supporters not to go out and protest. He said supporters could easily get arrested in the current environment even with the right to protest protected under the US Constitution.

Daniel R. Street is an attorney with over 25 years of experience handling civil litigation in State and Federal Court in Louisiana. He is an avid follower of politics and is deeply concerned that the suppression of free speech is undermining the country. Street is a hunter, gun owner, fisherman, and Christian. He and his family live in Monroe, Louisiana.
