A lot of people complain about money in politics. However, few seem to notice how they contribute to the problem. Sure, some people and corporations donate large sums to political campaigns, but have you ever thought of why? They want influence. But how does the government get influence? By buying off the American people. From bi-partisan bills to rip you off by paying for something Washington, D.C. is not authorized to pay for to claiming the power to pay off your debts for you, governments only get the money to do these things by extorting it from the American people. And once they get you dependent on these bribes, they use them to control you. As Alexis de Tocqueville said: “The American Republic will endure until the day Congress discovers that it can bribe the public with the public’s money.” So how do you feel, now that you’ve been bribed with your own money? And what happens to freedom and liberty in America when the people are controlled by governments, rather than their masters? The answer is, nothing good.
