How important is trust? For the republic to work, we have to have trust. Trust that our elected officials and the bureaucrats in government are doing their jobs within the powers we have consented to. Trust that our military is prepared to defend us and our Constitution. Trust that our fellow citizens make the right choice when we enter the ballot box.
But what happens when those we are expected to trust don’t act in a trustworthy manner? Can the republic survive when it seems no one can trust anyone these days?
