Imagine trying to play a game where you don’t know the rules. Not only would it be frustrating trying to learn as you go, but without a written set of rules, you would have no idea if the other players were cheating or not. Now imagine not that you’re playing a game, but running a country, and you never read the rules. That is the state we find governments in America today. The Constitution is the supreme law of the land, yet it is not taught in law schools, not in colleges, and definitely not in most high schools. So how can those in government leadership roles run a country when they don’t know the rules that were established? And since those we elect to office are working for us, how do we know if they are doing a good job if we don’t even know what the job is? What happens when people are governed without any rules in place?

We then cease to be a republic and become an oligarchy. In fact, the only difference between America today and the Soviet Union or Communist China is we elect our dictators rather than having them appointed over us. Before you start pointing fingers at others, realize that we are in this mess because the American people cannot be bothered to read the supreme law of the land, much less hold those we elect accountable to their oaths of office to support it. In fact, recent studies show that the American people support many of the illegal actions being taken in their name. So who is to blame, the politicians who are breaking the law or the people who hire them to do it?

Yeah well, I don’t believe we actually elected our dictator; but I guess we are already forgetting that Mr. Engel.
