The country is on fire. And yet, the country is a beautiful place with amazing people in every town and city. So why are we so polarized?
“Emotional Advertising” is a billion-dollar industry that controls wants and creates ‘needs.’ We are aware of how companies market to us. Are you aware of how your political party engages you? Or your favorite news network?
Studies show that an emotional impact is made within 3 seconds of words or video. With psychological backing, networks, companies, and political parties have engaged in this practice with more acuity than the country has ever seen in its history. If the American public is unaware that they are consumers of their political ideology, we are headed for civil war. Too many are claiming they have the answers long before facts are presented. This flames an emotional war that can only end in conflict.
When the FBI raided Mar-a-Lago, the headlines were predictable and harmful. The left claimed Trump was going to jail for violating the Espionage Act; the right claimed he was a victim yet again of a politicized agency. Neither side has any facts to back up their opinions. Both are engaged in conspiracy theories until the facts come to fruition. There is a growing distrust that may never be repaired. We should all watch our words proceeding forward to remain objective from our emotions.
Yet, with the government making changes such as the CDC redefining unvaccinated guidelines, there is a distrust in all parts of government. People are angry, and some justifiably so. We must reel in what is marketing, and what is fact, or else no one will understand what they must fight over. Perhaps this is exactly what both sides want.
