People can’t afford to fill their car with gas, so they fill it half-full. People are paying more for groceries. People are paying more for natural gas to heat their homes. People are paying more for medicines. Cars and manufacturing, you name it ⏤ prices are skyrocketing across the board.

People are paying more.

Why? Because Congress and Joe Biden are printing up money and dumping it into the economy.

How? Every time Congress and Joe Biden pass a spending bill that spends more than the Treasury receives in taxes, the Federal Reserve prints money out of thin air and “lends” it to the Federal government.

Result? Everyone in America is now poorer because Congress has picked their pocket like a street thief.

The average price in the U.S. of a gallon of milk was $3.88 in February …versus $3.04 in 2019, marking a 27+% increase of 84 cents. Almost a third more. That’s the same as stealing 84 cents from you every time you buy a gallon of milk.

Who stole it from you?

Congress and Joe Biden. Inflation is a hidden tax. The beauty of inflation is that it is a tax that Congress doesn’t have to call a tax. When they pass a bill to spend 2 billion dollars above and beyond tax revenues, that is 2 billion dollars they are stealing from us.

Stealing how?

That $2 billion and other trillions of deficit spending pumps up inflation so that you are paying 84 cents more for a gallon of milk. That’s 84 cents taxed away from you by Congress, without Congress voting on a bill that says, “I’m taxing Fred and Mary 84 cents more.” They can claim, “Who? Me? I didn’t vote for a tax increase.” But they did vote to spend money that Congress didn’t have. That creates the hidden tax of inflation.

Cry Over Stolen Milk

If your Congressman voted yes to any spending bill that spent money above revenues, he or she opened your refrigerator, picked up your milk jug, and poured almost a third of your gallon of milk down the drain. The milk you could have poured into a glass for your children. Stolen milk.

The definition of inflation is “too many dollars chasing too few goods.” Where did the “too many” dollars come from? The printing presses of the Federal Reserve. Congress votes to spend, and the Fed prints the money to cover it. Money in effect stolen from you and me.

If you or I wrote checks for more than what we have in our checking account, we would go to jail for fraud. When Congress and the Fed does it by printing money, they get a pass.

A Modest Proposal

Here is a “Modest Proposal” (with apologies to Jonathan Swift). Make it a crime when Congress or the Federal Reserve do anything that is a crime for citizens. They are basically counterfeiting money when they print more to cover deficit spending bills. If you or I counterfeit money, we will go to jail. Why not Congressmen and Congresswomen and employees of the Federal Reserve? After all, we are all equal under the law. And we should all be equally subject to the law. Congress is stealing our money by devaluing it with inflation. Lock them up!
