Have you seen medical dramas where the doctor needs the patient’s consent before they can proceed? Have you had to sign a stack of papers before you could be treated by a doctor? That is because medical ethics require a patient to give informed consent before being treated. Not simple consent, but that consent must be informed by the risks that are inherent in any medical procedure. Just listen to an advertisement for a drug when they list all of the possible side effects. That is there so you can give informed consent. But with COVID-19, we’ve been asked to consent to actions to mitigate a disease that, for most of us, presents an extremely low risk of death, masks, lock-downs, and vaccines, all without informing us of the actual risks we are exposing ourselves to. In other words, without informed consent. So what are the American people to do when government bureaucrats, elected officials, and the media all conspire to prevent us from giving our informed consent?
