I hear people say that the Constitution is dead, while others want to change it. Still, others are interested in adding to the protection of rights included in our Constitution by creating additional bills of rights. But do we need more bills of rights?
A recent report about a Washington State teacher may explain the reasoning behind a North Carolina law that purports to create a Parents’ Bill of Rights. But I’m reminded of something a wise man once told me. Before you move a marker, find out why it was there in the first place.
Today, let’s look into the Washington State incident, the North Carolina legislation, and some other recent events. Then I want to ask ourselves a question. Do we need more laws protecting our rights, or do we simply need to enforce the ones we already have?
