What will we have learned; how long will we remember, and how far back from neo-Marxist extremism will the political pendulum swing before we lose the current American generations so fortunately inherited? Conditions must sometimes get very bad before we wake up to...
Electric Vehicles Expensive, Unreliable and Environmentally Damaging
Dr. Jay Lehr and Tom Harris discuss how we have been sold a bill of goods on electric vehicles (EVs). Rather than being economical, reliable, and ‘green,’ they are the exact opposite. When you consider the rare earths, lithium, cobalt, and other minerals needed to produce EV batteries, and the fact that much of this is produced with child and near-slave labor with practically no health, safety, or environmental safeguards in places like Communist China and the Congo, it becomes clear that EVs are a disaster.
The ICSC-Canada Economics and Policy Advisor Robert Lyman explain that even the idea that EVs are ‘zero-emissions’ vehicles makes no sense:
“To begin with, about half the lifetime carbon-dioxide emissions from an electric car comes from the energy used to produce the car, especially in the mining and processing of the raw materials needed for the battery. This compares unfavorably with the manufacture of a gasoline-powered car which accounts for 17% of the car’s lifetime carbon dioxide emissions. When a new EV appears in the showroom, it has already been responsible for 30,000 pounds of carbon dioxide emissions. The equivalent amount for manufacturing a conventional car: 14,000 pounds… Once on the road, the carbon dioxide emissions of EVs depend on the power-generation fuel used to recharge the battery.”
Join Jay and Tom in this week’s episode of The Other Side of the Story to learn what environmentalists and their allies in mainstream media and government are not telling you about electric vehicles.
