The entire Portland Police Riot Team resigns in protest of unjust prosecutions against police. 50 members of the Rapid Response Team of the Portland Police resigned in protest after a grand jury charged a fellow police officer for assault during the mass protests that sent Portland, Oregon, into the national spotlight last year. One of the chief reasons for disbanding the special unit was a “lack of support,” the officers said.
The unprecedented move by about 50 officers, detectives, and sergeants to disband their own team came a day after a team member, Officer Corey Budworth, was indicted, accused of fourth-degree assault stemming from a baton strike against a protester last summer, reports The Oregonian. Show Host Lt. Randy Sutton reveals the unvarnished truth on Blue Lives Radio.
