Equity over competence! This is the latest battle cry of Progressive / Social Justice / Equity-Socialism elites. Equity, according to the online Mirriam-Webster dictionary, means “fairness or justice in the way people are treated.” Social Justice elites like NYC Mayor...
Flamed, Roasted, and Ready to be Fired
I’m writing this from the road. Finally, after more than a year of yo-yo lockdown rules curtailing our freedoms – and elements of my business – I’m off to run a weekend workshop.
We’ll be working with the element of fire and learning about its allied and shadow forces – everything from passion and drive to drama and jealousy.
Of course, as you’d probably expect from yours truly, we’ll be building in some firewalking as well.
Yee-hah! I cannot wait!
I’ve lost count of the number of times I’ve written to my MP since this started. The rules and regs here in Blighty have had more holes than Boris Johnson has had girlfriends. And they’d change at breakneck speed, with no warning – it’s been enough to give us whiplash!
Honestly, for those of us in the arena of training, it’s been hideous.
Even now, we’re going ahead after a series of letters from parliamentary officials, telling us we’re allowed to run our event, even though it didn’t say so anywhere publicly!
This is where things get crazy. There have been all kinds of stories flying about in the press just lately since Dominic Cummings started blabbing about how utterly crap he believes our Government to be.
Who knows where the truth lies but, this I can tell you: a lot of us have been shrugging at the allegations. None of it seems particularly surprising.
Only now, our journalists seem to be asking questions – despite the entire narrative over everything from Covid to ‘vaccinations’ being about as watertight as the Titanic AFTER the iceberg. And still, nobody seems to be pushing the questioning further than would seem to be proper and agreeable to the Tory press office.
One might expect faith in the powers that be to be receding faster than Matt Hancock’s hairline and yet, still, people are cooing over Boris and his gang like mothers nursing a grazed knee.
I don’t get it.
I suppose it’s the same over in the US – people will be ardently loyal to either Trump or Biden (or the parties they represent), regardless of the apparent facts waved in front of them.
And this is where, genuinely, for me, it all divorces from the actual politics.
Surely, wherever our political allegiance lies, wherever we are in the world, we need to be able to step away from those colors we’ve nailed to the electoral mast for a moment and just look at the behaviors of the people in power. Don’t we?
How do we stop being so blinded by our oft misguided loyalty and accept that, sometimes, people display behaviors that are simply lacking in positive values?
We need to be able to call out poor management and awful behavioral traits without necessarily moving away from our political beliefs.
Sometimes, bad people get hired.
Sometimes – perhaps frequently – it’s all part of a deliberate play that people behind the scenes profit from.
Whatever the reason, we the people need to be strong enough – and impartial enough – to be able to call it out… even if that means giving a red card to our favored political party.
This brings me back to our weekend.
Some people in power need a proper roasting after the shitstorm we’ve all been dragged through.
And, I’m sure, if this were the business world, some of those at the top would be getting FIRED as well.
What do you think?
Until next time,
