Too often mainstream media focus on the negative—wars, murder, scandal, famine, and ecological destruction—while ignoring the wonderful people and things all around us. This leads to increased depression, suicide, and ill health while lessening our ability to make positive changes in ourselves and in the world. We become stuck in a rut, which, it has been said, is often really “a coffin with the ends kicked out.”
In today’s program on The Other Side of the Story, we are joined by David Okerlund, a philosopher, poet, writer, and internationally-renowned motivational speaker. David guides listeners in how to get out of the rut that prevents us from achieving the high levels of happiness and purpose that is possible if we engage in, as fellow motivational speaker Zig Ziglar once said, “a checkup from the neck up.” David has given over 2,500 speeches to over 1,000,000 people without one disappointed client. Twice he finished in the final three of the World Championship of Public Speaking, a contest of over 20,000 individuals from over thirty countries. David taught speech and debate at Oxford University in England and was inducted into the International Hall of Fame for Speakers in 1984.
Join Jay, Tom and David for an inspirational hour that will leave you laughing and with new methods to bolster your life as well as everyone around you. As David says:
So remember to think like a beginner,
Examine your own circumstance.
Become an out-of-the-box thinker,
And get out there and dance
