President Joe Biden’s Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) moved to strengthen Obama-era rules that could force insurance providers receiving federal funding to pay for sex change procedures in a Monday rule change proposal.
The rule would expand Section 1557 of the Affordable Care Act’s (ACA) ban on sex-based discrimination to include gender identity, sexual orientation and pregnancy-related conditions including abortion, according to a Monday announcement. In practice, this would mean forcing health insurance providers to cover sex change procedures, according to Roger Severino, former director of the HHS Office for Civil Rights.
“By imposing an unscientific gender standard of care, and requiring insurance plans to pay for it, the rule will result in sterilization, loss of sexual function, removal of healthy reproductive organs, and a plethora of unnecessary surgeries and chemical interventions with life-long consequences,” Severino said. The move is part of a broader push within the Biden administration to promote transgender ideology and sex changes, including for minors, reports the Daily Caller.
Dr. Stephanie Cox explains that “The first seven years of a child’s life are crucial for development and growth. The brain is not fully developed until 25 years of age. Yet, society is saying that a child is perfectly capable of “choosing” his or her gender as young as age four.”
You can’t own a gun at 18, but you can choose your gender at four. You can’t drive a car until age 16 or legally purchase and drink a beer until age 21, but you can start hormones that increase your cancer risk by 30%. You can’t sign papers, open a bank account, or own anything of value. Still, you can reassign your biological gender ⏤ which also presents the question of the mental stability and fitness of your parents who agree to such a thing, but I digress.
Even for those who have no inclination towards morality or natural law, the negative effects of gender reassignment are glaring. Forty percent of the trans community have attempted suicide at least once in their life. For a term that didn’t exist prior to 1975 and only first appeared in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders in 1980, this agenda seems to be moving at a noticeable rate.
