Politicians in Germany have fallen hook, line, and sinker for both the climate scare and anti-nuclear hysteria. Consequently, the country will be closing its last nuclear power station at the end of this year and will shut down all remaining coal-fired stations in only 16 years. Their leaders would like their public to believe that Germany will run mostly on wind and solar power, a complete impossibility.
The result was predictable: three times higher electricity prices than in the U.S. Even worse, Germany is now highly dependent on natural gas from Russia, something that cannot be turned off any time soon, or much of the German economy would collapse, and thousands would suffer and die due to energy poverty.
To discuss all this and provide a cautionary tale about what not to do in America, we are joined by Wolfgang Müller from Germany. Wolfgang is general secretary of the European Institute for Climate and Energy or EIKE, Germany’s leading think tank for climate and energy policies. Previously he worked for the Friedrich Naumann Foundation, a German organization for Liberal and Libertarian politics. Wolfgang was also a country representative in Zimbabwe and project director of the Economic Project in Southern Africa.
