This week, there were multiple objective signs that recognizing failed pandemic response measures is becoming more widespread. Most appropriately, this has been in the UK and EU, which have been ahead of the US in COVID-19 mass vaccination.

UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson announced that his country is to move into mitigated COVID restrictions from January 27, dropping the legal requirement for face masks and COVID passports for entry into specific venues while leaving open the possibility for individual businesses to “voluntarily” require COVID jab certification. Although announcing that mandatory COVID jab credentials for entry to larger venues are being scrapped, Johnson quickly qualified that private businesses and organizations can still “choose to use the NHS [National Health Service] COVID Pass voluntarily, but we will end the compulsory use of COVID status certification in England.”

European Union drug regulators this week warned frequent COVID boosters could adversely affect the immune system and said there are currently no data to support repeated doses. According to the European Medicines Agency (EMA), continued booster doses every four months could pose a risk of overloading people’s immune systems and lead to fatigue.

Instead, the agency recommended countries space out the intervals between boosters and coordinate their programs with the onset of the cold season in each hemisphere — following blueprints of influenza vaccination strategies. “While use of additional boosters can be part of contingency plans, repeated vaccinations within short intervals would not represent a sustainable long-term strategy,” the EMA’s head of vaccines strategy, Marco Cavaleri, said during a press briefing. Boosters “can be done once, or maybe twice, but it’s not something that we can think should be repeated constantly,” Cavaleri said. “We need to think about how we can transition from the current pandemic setting to a more endemic setting.”

While both of these developments are not declaring an end to mass vaccination, they are setting the framework to announce a global halt in the future.

In the United States, a public march and presentation in Washington DC calling for the halt of vaccine mandates is slated for Sunday, January 23, 2022. This will be followed by a US Senate Special Panel led by Senator Ron Johnson (R-WI) on Monday, January 24, 2022, where Dr. McCullough will lead off the proceedings with a presentation on the “Four Pillars of Pandemic Response,” which has been a call for a more balanced public policy with teams organized on contagion control, early home treatment, late hospital care, and vaccination. To win the war on COVID-19, battles must be fought on all four fronts.

We have a wonderful guest this week on the McCullough Report! Dr. Theresa Long, MD, MPH, is our first aerospace and occupational medicine expert to come on the show and educate us about COVID-19 respiratory illness and vaccination and the implications for pilots, flight attendants, and passengers.

So let’s get real, let’s get loud, on America Out Loud Talk Radio, this is The McCullough Report!
