This past week, The Supreme Court handed down two landmark decisions supporting our Constitution. The first dealt with the second amendment, the right to possess and bear firearms, and the second decision returned the issues of abortion to the states.
In this podcast, I start by addressing the immediate reaction to the 5-4 Court ruling on abortion, particularly President Joe Biden’s disturbing and highly partisan speech to the nation just hours after the Court’s decision. Like many on abortion before this one, Mr. Biden grossly mischaracterized the harm that will befall women because of this Court’s Constitutional correction. Moreover, Mr. Biden fails to acknowledge something in plain sight. Abortion is not in the Constitution.
The point is, it shouldn’t matter if you are Pro-Life or Pro-Abortion. This Court correctly adjudicated that an abortion right is not in our Constitution. Nor, may I add, there’s no Constitutional prohibition on abortion either.
Read the Federalists’ papers! They detail the founding fathers’ various discussions and philosophies about what to put in the Constitution. Abortion is not discussed anywhere in these proceedings. Nor did they construct an amendment under which a future Supreme Court could logically construe abortion as a Constitutional right. Instead, what we continue to hear from the Left is deliberate fear-mongering and unfounded pseudo-legal machinations about Constitutional abortion rights.
For instance, I’ve always believed the Progressive Left’s labeling of “Pro-Abortion” as “Pro-Choice” is just another purposeful political misrepresentation of their actual position. There’s never a “choice” to be made whether to birth an unwanted pregnancy or abort the pregnancy. Pro-Choice is always about having an abortion. Moreover, it’s always about the most extreme, on-demand, unrestricted abortion proceedings with no consideration of the rights of the unborn life.
In the show’s second part, I present the Rand Corporation’s recent review of 27,900 academic studies on gun control. They demonstrate that 99.6% of these studies are deeply flawed and based on questionable theoretical models making these studies’ conclusions useless to policy makers. Nevertheless, politicians disingenuously cite how their proposed gun laws reduce gun violence, as demonstrated in this study. But, again, you’ll find this discussion another one of our collective illusions.
Join me for “ Guns & Abortions – Our Collective Illusions” as I explore what’s causing America’s number one psychological distress.
