It was a long time coming, nearly two years to be exact, but finally, people are coming outside and removing the mandated COVID masks. Individuals are beginning to see one another for the first time in a long time. Bright smiles and pearly white teeth, hidden away behind a mask, are being seen. Cute round faces of cuddly laughing kids are making their way to public display. Hard to believe we went two years without really seeing unmasked faces, but we did. And now that they are coming off and we are stepping outside for some, it feels strange. Having the sun hit their naked faces makes them feel uncomfortable. Yet, others are glad to be outside and free from the repressive masks that we are now learning did very little to protect us from COVID.
The hosts of “After Dark,” along with guest Jackie Toboroff, discuss the effects of the COVID locked down and masks had on our lives. They feel that not only did adults suffer socially and psychologically from wearing the mask, but our children suffered as well. And while the lockdowns and mask mandates are coming to an end, the damage done from being locked up with a mask as a security net will haunt us for years to come.
Jackie Toboroff is the founder of Parent Rising, whose mission statement is: “to create an infrastructure for parents against CRT and unconstitutional mandates in schools as well as shape policy and work with political candidates and those in office ensuring our parental rights are maintained and our children protected.” She is a native New Yorker and a Republican.
