It should have been a surprise to no one that the recent opinion in the Dobbs case would ruffle some feathers. The court found that a right to abortion is not found in the language of the Constitution, nor is it found in the history or tradition of this nation before the 1973 Roe opinion. The reactions from the progressives and pro-abortion groups have pretty much been what I expected. As a previous presidential chief of staff once said, “never let a crisis go to waste.” But what should they do if there isn’t actually a crisis? Simple, declare one and move forward.
While some groups have tried to create a crisis with threats, violence, and even terror, President Biden recently declared that the Dobbs decision is a health crisis, and is now using it to circumvent not only the Supreme Court’s opinion, but the Constitution itself.
