The Marxist Left, which is now dominating the culture, corporations, education establishment, and governments of the United States, wants everyone to be equal. Equally ignorant, equally unhealthy, equally poor, and equally miserable. Misery equity!

We see the examples all around us.

“Is math racist? A debate is raging” is the headline for a December 8, 2021 article in USA Today. What? Do the 2s discriminate against the 3s? The “equity” solution is to eliminate advanced math classes or tracking of students.

Is nutrition racist? Rick Moran reports in PJ Media that a Washington State University webinar (initially produced by Duke University) claims that “whiteness defines foods as either good or bad” and that farmers’ markets are merely white spaces.

Is Math Racist?

The question “Is math racist?” is racist itself. It assumes that minority children cannot learn math. Therefore, we should stop trying to teach it or dumb it down so that anyone can pass math classes without knowing real math.

Children of any ethnic group can learn math, but it requires practice, like any other skill. Remember the old joke: “Q. How do you get to Carnegie Hall? A. Practice!” Asian students have consistently scored higher in math. The reason is cultural: Tiger Moms make their children do their homework and practice, practice, practice their math skills.

Math is not racist. Math is practice.

How do athletes get so good? Again, practice. If coaches did not hold practice sessions, the athletes would not improve their skills. So, math is not racist. Math is practice.

Anything that takes time away from practice will hurt student performance. For example, the USA Today article tells us:

In suburban Chicago, Evanston Township High School, Jake Mills, who teaches geometry and AP statistics, now works data science problems into his stats classes, such as by having students analyze racial disparities in traffic stops by the Evanston police.

You can see where this is going – class time used to discuss racial injustice (instead of learning how to collect adequate sample sizes to make a legitimate calculation.) It is good to use real-world examples of math problems, as long as the example does not degenerate into class time discussion of non-math issues.

Is Nutrition Racist?

Again, the question” Is Nutrition Racist?” is itself racist. It assumes that minorities cannot learn the science of nutrition, and that minorities are incapable of using nutrition facts to make healthy food choices.

People of any ethnic group can learn the basic facts of nutrition and then make food choices based on those facts. The quote “whiteness defines foods as either good or bad” substitutes the word “white” for the word “nutrition.” Nutrition is nutrition. Human beings of any color need fiber, fats, carbohydrates, and vitamins—basic nutrition.

Is Making An Effort Racist?

The common element between these two woke theories is that it is racist to expect minorities to make an effort to learn math or nutrition. Is making an effort “white?” Surprise! Learning anything takes effort and practice for anybody of any race or ethnicity.

What these “woke” theorists are doing is destroying the concept that some things are better than others, and that it takes effort to get the better things. Is coming in out of the rain good or bad? It takes effort to walk indoors out of the rain. Is it, therefore, “white” to come in out of the rain?

Destroying Effort is Destroying Excellence

Why this brainwashing from the media and educational establishment to discredit the idea of making an effort? Because effort can make you better at something. Effort can make you a better farmer, auto mechanic, or architect.

But the very concept of “better” runs counter to the Woke/Marxist goal of equity for all. If someone is better at something, then she and I are not equal. Inequality is not allowed. We must all be the same at math skills and the same in the nutritional value of what we eat. If Mary is better at math than I am, we have to “dumb down” the teaching she gets to my level. That’s equity, after all.

But wait! Isn’t there an intellectual elite explaining all these things to us? What’s in it for them? Simple: political control of the rest of us.

Cut Off Anyone Who Stands Out

The ancient Greek historian Herodotus records this story:

“Periander, the ruler of Corinth, sent a messenger to Thrasybulus, ruler of Miletus, to ask him how he could better govern his city. Thrasybulus led the messenger out of town to a wheat field. He cut the highest wheat ears he found …until he ended up destroying the best part of the crop.
Periander thought he got implicit advice in those actions of Thrasybulus: he had to kill the subjects who had an outstanding influence or ability. And so he became the tyrant [unchallenged by people of ability].”

Like the tyrant Periander, our current-day rulers want to cut us all down to the same size.

Anyone who excels at a skill, anyone who speaks out at school board meetings, anyone who has innovative business ideas (like Trump’s new social media platform) has to be cut down. Why? Because if they have better abilities, they might succeed in opposing our Marxist rulers.

Rulers of Mediocrity

“In the land of the blind, the one-eyed man is king.” Erasmus, 1466-1536. Biden and his Leftist Cronies want to make us blind, figuratively speaking, so that they can act like kings over us.

From the point of view of the ruling elite, better to be rulers of mediocrity, than equals among a people of diverse talents and producers of wonderful technologies and products. Some better at math, some better at nutrition, some better at architecture, some better at designing computer chips, some better at manufacturing automobiles.

I excel with the analysis of issues and writing about them⏤far more than other people. Many people are better than I am at a myriad of other skills. And I am the richer for it. I don’t have a clue about how to build a computer, but I don’t have to be. Other people are better at it than I am. Instead of envying them and wanting to cut them down to my ignorant level of knowledge of computer design, I am grateful for the Bill Gates and the Steve Jobs of the world. Why? My world is better because they are better at something than I am.

So, make an effort to get better in your chosen profession. Making an effort and getting better is not racist. Telling anyone that they should not make an effort to get better at something, that’s racist.

Incompetence is a breeding ground for corruption. But dishonesty is the foundation. Does anyone really believe a Department of Mathematics and an NBA team can have the same ratio of Blacks?
