Every member of the House and Senate, every Supreme Court Justice and Federal Judge, the President, Vice President, and every member of their staffs, every Federal employee (including every member of the military) swears an oath: “I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office on which I am about to enter: So help me God.”

The President and members of the military take slightly different oaths based on their different roles (the military Oath of Service includes obeying orders from the President and from superior officers, for example), but all of these oaths carry the same two critical pieces:

  1. That I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic, and
  2. That I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same.

Many Federal Judges, some on the Supreme Court, the President and Vice President of the United States, and about half the House and Senate, along with the majority of bureaucrats in the Federal Government, also believe in a ‘living document’ interpretation of the Constitution.

What is the ‘living document’ interpretation of the US Constitution, and does this ‘interpretation’ “bear true faith and allegiance to the same”?

Perhaps more broadly, what are the implications of having the country led by a bunch of people who swore an oath that they had absolutely no intention of keeping – by people who have no honor?

Have these people corrupted our institutions to the point that those institutions lack integrity, and if so, what are they working toward?

Honor, Integrity, the United States Constitution, and the politics of control.
