The American people seem to put a lot of trust, not in government, but in political parties. People voted for Donald Trump because they couldn’t stand Hillary Clinton. Other people voted for Joe Biden because they couldn’t stand Donald Trump. It is not uncommon to hear people saying you have to vote for one party, because the other is so evil. It doesn’t matter which party you’re talking about; both of them have violated their oaths of office, illegally centralized power in Washington, D.C., and destroyed your rights. So for those of you who trust in government, institutions, or political parties, may I remind you of the words of our first President, George Washington, when he left office:
The alternate domination of one faction over another, sharpened by the spirit of revenge, natural to party dissension, which in different ages and countries has perpetrated the most horrid enormities, is itself a frightful despotism.
So I think we should all ask ourselves, based on recent history, is our trust well-founded?
