News media outlets that are experts in distributing sensationalism and bias had a record day covering the firings of Tucker Carlson and Don Lemon. Fox News and CNN made headlines within hours of each other with their shocking announcement to terminate employment with their successful hosts. Not since Bill O’Reilly has a more successful host been terminated from Fox News. The speculation regarding the announcement is now swirling in the press.
Tucker had upset many at Fox, and he was running on borrowed time, according to sources that work at Fox. He is the target of a lawsuit alleging sexism; he went after big pharma last week, and could have been part of a larger play to right the network during the next lawsuit with Smartmatic. Don Lemon of CNN had a credibility problem that had been building. It looks like CNN made a calculated move to help recenter the network.
And just when the shock and awe got to a fever pitch, the White House announced that the domestic policy head, Susan Rice, would leave her post at the end of May. This announcement comes on the heels of my show yesterday discussing how she was at odds with many other members of the Biden Administration. America will wait with an eager eye to see who will replace her.
When stories that distract Americans come up, I often like to think about what we are missing in the news. Today I offer you some headlines that are missing the proper attention.
