These are dangerous times we live in. All the things that we thought were safe and sure are now being attacked and undermined. What used to be the liberal left is now carrying the banner of the radical socialist/Marxists and tearing down the symbols of our liberty, destroying in a moment of mindless violence the physical and ideological monuments to all that was great about America.

Our government is turning its back on our Constitution, rewriting history, and taking America away from its roots in democracy and on a path toward tyranny.

Democrat mayors have lost control of their cities, and the streets have erupted with the shouts of socialists and anarchists, who loot and pillage and burn what is not theirs, destroying in a night of wanton violence what hard-working people have spent their lives building. Local governments in blue cities around the country – in Portland, Oregon; Seattle, Washington; New York City, Chicago, Minneapolis, and Washington D.C. – bow to this anarchy, accepting the destruction that lies in its wake, and allowing the radical agenda of the rioters and looters to dictate local policies and overwhelm the police, whose ranks have been reduced to appease the mobs.

The cries of “Black Lives Matter” and “Defund the Police” shout down the cries for “Law and Order” and “God Bless America.” And the federal government, under the Biden administration, now supports this anarchy, files no charges against the rioters and destroyers, but instead targets conservative Americans with every tool in their toolkit.

Does this sound familiar? It has a precedent in recent history. Any student of twentieth-century history will recognize a repetition of the beginnings of Hitler’s National Socialist German WorkersParty. It started with small restrictions and random attacks.

First, it was the “Law for the Restoration of the Professional Civil Service” in 1933, which denied Jews the right to work in any government position. It began with government-sanctioned attacks on Jews in the streets of German cities. It ended in the concentration camps throughout Europe, where six million Jewish men, women, and children were murdered in cold blood by the Nazis. In America, it has begun with legitimizing raw, anti-Jewish speech from elected members of Congress and random attacks on Jews wherever they are found.

In Germany, it began with the targeting of Jewish stores and the segregating of Jews from non-Jews. In America, it has become commonplace for radicals to attack Jews wherever they may be – diners in Jewish restaurants, the owners and customers of Jewish stores, vandalism against synagogues and cemeteries, and murder in Jewish homes and synagogues.

While our country has fallen into the hands of lunatics, the Biden administration has embraced the Socialist/Communist/Fascist playbook, hoping to control the American people with restrictive laws and oppressive taxes. The Democrats in Congress are rushing to pass laws that raise the taxes of hard-working people just recovering from a year of lockdowns, that take away the rights of individuals with regard to their medical and social decisions, and that deprive the American people of the right to defend themselves against the tyranny of this new order in America. And, it begins with the Jews, just as it did in Germany less than a century ago, and as it has throughout history.

This year alone, attacks against Jews in America have gone up 73%. According to the FBI, in 2020, there were more than 1,700 religious hate crimes committed against Jewish victims. Jews were the targets of over 60% of all religious hate crimes. No other religious group even came close.

And in the weeks that followed the recent war against Israel by Hamas (in which Hamas fired more than 4,400 rockets into densely populated Israeli cities in just eleven days), 193 anti-Jewish attacks were reported in the United States, and violent anti-Jewish demonstrations were held across the country. The hatred of Jews was not limited to the streets of American cities. Between May 7 and May 14, more than 17,000 tweets were reported that claimed, in one way or another, “Hitler was right.”

When we see the vicious attacks against Jewish Americans in broad daylight and without consequence, all Americans should be alarmed at the breakdown of law and order against one group, and it should be a warning to us all. Because history should have taught us that these attacks are likely to be the precursor of a new and deadly war right here at home. When anti-Jewish rhetoric is allowed – and even praised – in the halls of Congress, and is legitimized by Representatives such as Rashida Tlaib and Ilhan Omar, we are at the brink of a terrible new era in which the traditions of American values are being trampled under the feet of those who preach hate, despise justice, and have already attained power.

Hamas supporters in the U.S. have used the recent conflict in Israel and Gaza as one more excuse to stir the boiling cauldron of hatred against the Jews. The mantra of Death to Israel, Death to America” feeds the anti-Jewish frenzy. The blood libels against Israel’s so-called ‘war crimes’ against the ‘Palestinians’ has stirred up the Jew-hatred and spawned demonstrations throughout the United States, demonstrations that are growing increasingly hysterical and out of control, and have resulted not only in graffiti on the walls of synagogues and broken tombstones, but murderous assaults in Jewish homes, stores, and synagogues.

Americans – all Americans – need to remember that throughout history, the Jews have been the canaries in the coal mine. And that when attacks against Jews go unchecked and unpunished, brutal wars inevitably follow.

It is difficult for Westerners to comprehend the depth of hatred that Jews are facing today, and the danger that it represents to all Americans. Here in America, we watch these events unfold as if we were viewing a new kind of reality show. But this is not theater and we, who watch passively, as we sit comfortably in front of the television, need to be alarmed.

Americans cannot afford to sit quietly and ignore the growing hysteria. We in America stand on the threshold of an unprecedented madness as we allow our nation to be undermined by those who would destroy all that generations of Americans have fought and died for. We are denying what is obvious: that the riots in the streets and the vicious attacks against Jewish Americans are only the beginning of a terrible new future for all Americans.

It is 1939 again, and we are the comfortable Europeans denying the growing threat of the Third Reich. “It can never happen here,” we say. “This is America!” But it can happen here, just like it did in Germany, and then in Europe, and then around the globe. Here in America, it is five minutes to midnight, and it is time to wake up.

First, they came for the Communists, and I did not speak out because I was not a Communist
Then they came for the trade unionists, and I did not speak out because I was not a trade unionist
Then they came for the Jews and I did not speak out because I was not a Jew
Then they came for me and there was no one left to speak out for me

Martin Niemöller – 1946

WOW! You need a history lesson or two. It has been proven time and again, that 6 million jews were not killed in Germany’s work camps. Also, Hitler had a 150,000 jews in his army, and his number 1 flying ace was a jew as well. Don’t get your history from Hollywood. Quit writing if you’re not going to research correctly!

I don’t know where you learned your history or how you do your research, Maureen, but you are way off the mark. The Holocaust is well documented and your ‘facts’ have no place in a serious discussion of history.
