All the signs are there. If America isn’t careful, the country will fall to Communism and Socialism. That is the dire warning Carmen Marie Montiel has for America. The former beauty queen and TV anchor says “After Dark With Rob and Andrew” what’s happening in America right now that she has seen before in her native Venezuela. She says Cubans warned her country in the 1980s to be careful of the changing government, “but we were arrogant like the United States.” Because her former country was one of the wealthiest at the time, she said, they ignored the warnings of the Cubans, who had experienced something similar when Fidel Castro came to power.
The TV journalist and now American citizen says it always starts with education in schools, for it is easy to control young people. Montiel explains, “After being the greatest nation in the world…we have a big fight because this is checkmate. If they (Socialists) take the United States of America, there is no hope for the rest of the world.”
Carmen Maria Montiel is a native of Venezuela. She came to the United States in 1988 to continue her studies in journalism at East Tennessee State. Upon completing her studies, she went to work as a journalist and then anchor for Telemundo in Houston. Before leaving Venezuela, Montiel was a former Miss Venezuela (1984) and Miss South America and 2nd runner up in the Miss Universe Pageant. In 2018, she was a candidate for US Congress for the Republican Party in District 29 in Texas, making it to a run-off that she lost by 83 votes. She is the author of the personal memoir, Stolen Identity: A Story of Love, Violence, and Liberation. Currently, she is a business owner and real estate, investor. Montiel is the mother of three children and plans to run again for Congress in 2022.
