My parents thought that my generation was going to hell in a hand-basket. We were the kids who grew up with the Beatles, the long hair, the Rolling Stones and Woodstock. My folks would be pretty upset with the direction this millennial generation has taken. We should all be pretty concerned. What is their problem? I don’t know what their problem is, and I doubt that they do either. This is a generation that seems to expect a lot from the Universe; without having to give much in return.
It is rare to see any entrepreneurialism; or a hard work ethic with this generation. They think they know everything; as each generation has thought through history; but this generation is woefully short on the knowledge of history and the context of those events that got our country to where it is today. These millennials are oblivious to the realities of wars in which our country is attacked. They are oblivious to a time when young men were drafted for service in the military and oblivious to the time when we had real racial bias. They have no appreciation of how far we have come to move forward with all people being the same. They have no idea of what a Great Depression is; and feel just fine living on the dole of their parents, government and friends to get by.
This new generation believes that they are entitled to college, to healthcare and to birth control. They need safe spaces and trophies to not feel bad. They believe that social interaction comes from their cell phone rather than face to face. They are egocentric rather than altruistic. They don’t work the long hours and put in the time or “pay the dues” to get ahead. Instead, they want instant gratification. Rather than the mentality to do the most they can do in their time at work; they seek how to do the least. You have to call some of them up, just to get them to come into work.
Thankfully, there are many exceptions to the Millennial Entitled Crowd,” others of this IGM (I got mine) generation are ripe for recruitment into the Bernie Sanders, Kamala Harris and the Ocasio-Cortez socialist agenda club. They have no historical context to understand that socialism cannot work on any level. They don’t yet understand human nature and that all people are not equal in skills, motivations abilities or deserved income.
It is the sum of the moving parts and the diversity of them that makes life work. To have a “livable wage” for everyone as a government handout will never work. Free college will never work, everyone on Medi-Cal will never work. There is nowhere in the world the socialism human experiment has worked. Why would anyone be motivated to work harder and smarter and more creatively when those who do nothing get the same pay? Why would anyone want to be a doctor; just to receive the same life rewards as a school dropout?
The millennials and most everyone who are protesting President Trump don’t even know what they are protesting. They use the words like racist, misogynist, criminal and treason, when they honestly have no idea what these words historically mean in America. They spend their time being angry and trying to be a member of the fake “social justice warrior” movement; no matter how wrong and uninformed that movement is. They cannot articulate a single rational, truthful reason for their presence at the protest.
These are the people who will stupidly, ignorantly, shortsightedly, and selfishly push for socialism and cast votes for the aforementioned types of candidates.
When these millennials get a little older and have more life experiences; my bet is that they change their views. But unfortunately by that time, they will have caused irrevocable damage to all of us.
Do you really think that having more employment that we have seen in decades is a bad thing? How about higher wages and more opportunities and jobs for minorities than ever before? What about better medical care and a safer America?
What is this generation complaining about? My suggestion for millennials is to better your life now while President Trump has opened the door for you to get that better job and better wage, and more training, and then you put your head down and get to work for your own future and stop expecting all of us to take care of your future for you. You’ll be surprised at how exhilarating making your own success can be. Get off the street with your protest signs and do something positive for your future, then you can help others with theirs. Stop expecting and start contributing. While you are at it, take some time to read up on history and socialism and learn why you live in the greatest country on earth.
