Since the arrival of covid, nurses have strayed away from their ethical principles and allowed policies and protocols to take precedence over patients. In 2020, nurses were hailed as healthcare heroes, and in 2021, for the 20th consecutive year in a row, listed as the number one most trusted profession. This is largely due to the advocate role a nurse plays in a healthcare setting where moral courage is seen and felt.

Physicians were in second place by 14 points, and Congress third from last. Throughout these last 2.5 years, the number one most trusted profession received their direction on how to handle covid from the group that is ranked right above lobbyists and car salesmen—satire at its finest.

We allowed the government to impose unscientific mandates without evidence to support their use. They laughed at us when we refused to take an experimental injection that was failing and made us quickly dispensable to further their agenda, all at a significant loss to those we vowed to protect.

In my last show, “Ethics in Healthcare: Why Did Nurses and Physicians Forget Their Oath?” I broke down the four ethical principles of nursing: Autonomy, Beneficence, Justice, and non-maleficence.

In this segment, Kimberly Overton, BSN RN, founder of the Nurse Freedom Network, and I go deeper into discussing the 9 Provisions of the Nursing Code of Ethics.

  1. The nurse practices with compassion and respect for the inherent dignity, worth, and unique attributes of every person.
  2. The nurse’s primary commitment is to the patient, whether an individual, family, group, community, or population.
  3. The nurse promotes, advocates for, and protects the rights, health, and safety of the patient.
  4. The nurse has authority, accountability, and responsibility for nursing practice; makes decisions; and takes action consistent with the obligation to provide optimal patient care.
  5. The nurse owes the same duties to self as to others, including the responsibility to promote health and safety, preserve wholeness of character and integrity, maintain competence, and continue personal and professional growth.
  6. The nurse, through individual and collective effort, establishes, maintains, and improves the ethical environment of the work setting and conditions of employment that are conducive to safe, quality health care.
  7. The nurse, in all roles and settings, advances the profession through research and scholarly inquiry, professional standards development, and the generation of both nursing and health policy.
  8. The nurse collaborates with other health professionals and the public to protect human rights, promote health diplomacy, and reduce health disparities.
  9. The profession of nursing, collectively through its professional organization, must articulate nursing values, maintain the integrity of the profession, and integrate principles of social justice into nursing and health policy.

According to “The American Nurses Association, The Code is nonnegotiable in any setting, and it makes explicit the profession’s primary obligations, values, and ideals. In fact, it informs every aspect of the nurse’s life.” Nowhere in their statement or in this 64-page book, “Code of Ethics for Nurses With Interpretive Statements,” does it say we can stray from our ethical principles in times of a pandemic, nor does it rest on what the “CDC says.” How many times have you heard that these last two years? Please join us as we break down this important topic.

I do not trust any aspect of the healthcare system anymore. No doctor has been straight with me on anything to deal with covid-19 and the blatant level of lies that the medical community had to keep telling for the last 2 years and 6 months is beyond defensible. The very first is, they lied about prior infection immunity. Then they lied on death certificates for the last 2 years and 6 months. They lied about hydroxychloroquine for the last 2 years and 5 months. They have lied about ivermectin for the last 2 years and 2 months. They lied about who was in the hospital with respect to vaccines, they lied about who was dying to covid with respect to vaccines, they have been lying about the side effects of the vaccines.
