I have previously alluded to the story of Jesus and the exorcism of the possessed man at Gadara, as it occurs in the canonical gospels. I want to go into the symbolism more deeply this time, and specifically address how the symbolism pops up in the corona experience. While my thinking is largely reflective of the psychological insights of A Course in Miracles, as to the biblical story, I would like to acknowledge the commentary on the Gospel of Mark by J. W. Kaiser, (Believing van het Evangelie, Eng.: Experiencing the Gospel – no translation available). I will quote the passage here once more from the KJV, MK 5:1-20:

And they came over unto the other side of the sea, into the country of the Gadarenes. 2 And when he was come out of the ship, immediately there met him out of the tombs a man with an unclean spirit, 3 Who had his dwelling among the tombs; and no man could bind him, no, not with chains: 4 Because that he had been often bound with fetters and chains, and the chains had been plucked asunder by him, and the fetters broken in pieces: neither could any man tame him. 5 And always, night and day, he was in the mountains, and in the tombs, crying, and cutting himself with stones. 6 But when he saw Jesus afar off, he ran and worshipped him, 7 And cried with a loud voice, and said, What have I to do with thee, Jesus, thou Son of the most high God? I adjure thee by God, that thou torment me not. 8 For he said unto him, Come out of the man, thou unclean spirit. 9 And he asked him, What is thy name? And he answered, saying, My name is Legion: for we are many. 10 And he besought him much that he would not send them away out of the country. 11 Now there was there nigh unto the mountains a great herd of swine feeding. 12 And all the devils besought him, saying, Send us into the swine, that we may enter into them. 13 And forthwith Jesus gave them leave. And the unclean spirits went out, and entered into the swine: and the herd ran violently down a steep place into the sea, (they were about two thousand;) and were choked in the sea.

14 And they that fed the swine fled, and told it in the city, and in the country. And they went out to see what it was that was done. 15 And they come to Jesus, and see him that was possessed with the devil, and had the legion, sitting, and clothed, and in his right mind: and they were afraid. 16 And they that saw it told them how it befell to him that was possessed with the devil, and also concerning the swine. 17 And they began to pray him to depart out of their coasts. 18 And when he was come into the ship, he that had been possessed with the devil prayed him that he might be with him. 19 Howbeit Jesus suffered him not, but saith unto him, Go home to thy friends, and tell them how great things the Lord hath done for thee, and hath had compassion on thee. 20 And he departed, and began to publish in Decapolis how great things Jesus had done for him: and all men did marvel.

Let’s look at the possible meaning of this parable. For one moment I will switch back to something I have said earlier about the psychology of A Course in Miracles previously: at a fundamental level the mind is like a radio receiver, with an antenna that can tune into two stations WEGO and WGOD. WEGO is a cacophony (think: “My name is legion, for we are many.”), and WGOD is a peaceful and loving symphony of one note, for in Heaven all is one, there are no distinctions other than that the creation is an extension of the Creator, and not the other way around. Jesus represents the Kingdom to us. Another great parable is Jesus and the storm at sea, evidently Jesus is tuned into WGOD and the apostles are running scared because they are tuned into WEGO. Back to the exorcism at Gadara, Jesus  knows that 10x zero is zero, 100x zero is still zero, never mind “legion” or “many” times zero is still zero, for he is tuned into the WGOD station. Jesus knows that only truth is true and everything else is a lie, and truth is not arrived at by opinion poll.

So what is the possessed man doing? Running around in the mountains and among the tombs. Tombs are nothing but the remains of the past, which is par for the course for the ego, it always builds a future from the wreckage of the past and avoids the present, the now. But, the possessed man instantly recognizes Jesus’ authority. And the evil spirit goes into a herd of swine – symbolically unclean animals that eat more or less anything that you throw them. But the ego is always ultimately self-destructive, as shown here by the swine going off the cliff.

This story may seem a little overly dramatic for today’s reader, but once you read it on a symbolic level as I am suggesting here, it starts to make sense. I will illustrate the same issue with a story from Ken Wapnick who was a clinical psychologist and the most important teacher of A Course in Miracles. As he told it, he once had a patient – he used a fictitious name Ed – and in his first session Ed could explain exactly what the problem was, and why no previous therapist had been any help. He was having problems with women and with the help of therapy, he had found the cause – an experience with his mother when he was a child. Ken cracked a smile and said: I can see your tombstone already: “Here lies Ed, he had a problem with his mother.” Ed began to laugh, and suddenly he could see, that none of us can change the past, but we can change in the present – our present memory of a past event. Same point exactly, he was mindlessly repeating the same error, but until he took responsibility for making the change, he was a victim of his past. Freud called this problem the child is the father of the man. The change is called forgiveness, letting go of the experience.

I want to make a note here on terminology, I regard the overall direction as the herd, and the herd will always have its leaders. And at some point the leaders will always lead the herd to the slaughter. That could be in war, or in fighting a virus. But the herd and its leaders always target some form of external enemy, the energy of the herd cult comes from focusing on outside enemies, because we do not want to look at our guilt over our separation from God. In agreeing to go to war, the herd gives away its power to the leaders, who will abuse it. That is the oldest thing and not some kind of a new phenomenon. When a few them begin to see things going the wrong way, you get a counter movement, a mass, with an ideal – like “no vaccination.”

In the end neither offers any true solutions, they are just opposite sides of the same argument, and then it is up to the individual to transcend them both, and move on with their spiritual development. Yes/No games don’t cut it. Crowds may form at the herd level or at the mass level when stampede type phenomena and outbreaks of violence come into play. All mass consciousness is fickle at any level, it can reverse itself on a dime. The same crowds shouted “Hallelujah” and “Crucify him.”

To put the issues in perspective, I go back to the psychology of A Course in Miracles, which in many ways synthesizes and transcends all the conflicting theories of Freud and Jung and Adler, by providing an overarching metaphysical explanation:

  1. At first, in Heaven all is one, and as the Course tells it, that really never changes either, just because we are having a bad dream. God at this level is pure spirit and our source as such. The sonship is created as an extension of God, who simply extends himself forever – and this is all at an abstract level, utterly outside of time and space. This is the spiritual realm of non-duality and beyond comprehension.
  2. We then have a crazy idea of being separate from God, and the minute we take that idea seriously, duality now takes over in our conscious experience and we opt to no longer be part of the mind of God, but have our own, limited, mind, which we carve out of reality.
  3. Within the mind are two aspects, the ego and the Holy Spirit, or the memory of Heaven, which is also referred to as the voice for God. We choose the ego, and we repress the Holy Spirit.
  4. Following the ego’s logic, we now project this out into a physical world, the world of time and space, such is the Course’s equivalent of the Big Bang. One gigantic projection, to escape the guilt that is associated with the memory of Heaven. Another way of putting it is that the one Son of God, the Creation now has a paranoid-schizophrenic episode, a multiple personality disorder, that is the world of time and space populated by individuals all at odds with one another. It is in this world that we see everyone and everything as separate and individual entities, and this is the world where numbers matter: “My name is legion, for we are many.”
  5. In the world of duality, everything but everything is dualistic and framed in terms of victims and victimizers, with God being the first victimizer in our mind, which is why we produce a book about him in which we accuse him of throwing us out of paradise, for we do not want to take responsibility for having chosen the ego and the separation. On the physical level parents at some level are victimizers, and most children go through a phase of blaming their parents for putting them into the world.
  6. Everything in this world then is nothing but an endless series of reruns of denial and projection, which goes on forever, until one day we recognize that the only constant in all the disasters in the movie that is my life (the Life of …[fill in your own name]) is ourself. Thus, we might have something to do with it.
  7. Until we question our story, nothing ever changes, we just keep going through endless repeats. The dawning that the cause is in the mind, and not outside, is the beginning of a spiritual awakening. It is the start of taking responsibility for ourselves.

Mass formation now is nothing new or special or different. The herd (the victims) wants external enemies, and by agreeing on what the enemy is, they give away their power to leaders, who are the victimizers. The mass that arises to oppose the herd is the ones who question the prevailing narrative. With more and more vaccine deaths and disability, people join this oppositional mass in ever larger numbers, and maybe at one point it will be large enough to prevail. To this mass the ideal is to remain unvaccinated or at least to regret taking the vax and seeking to counter it. It is a fairly large group, and the distribution is interesting, with the lowest vax rates in the poorest countries, and the most vax damage associated with the highest vax rates.

Nothing I am saying here exonerates anybody, for in our “all the world’s a stage” play that is going on, if I sustain vaccine damage, it makes sense that there is recourse. But we also need to recognize that we have a problem that is way bigger, so the last thing we want is to unleash the fury on a few people and never deal with the problem. Of course Fauci needs to stand trial, for directly and indirectly he seems to be responsible for millions of Covid deaths and as many as 350 million of deaths from the lockdowns, where the people at the bottom of the pyramid were pushed off the edge of the cliff. And there were thousands of AIDS/AZT deaths before that. But then we have to get beyond Fauci and a few others who were the main movers and shakers if we are to have any chance at real reform.

Both the herd and the shepherds believed in the germ theory, and they got into this frenzy together. And yes, we can understand that the belief in germ theory is a choice, but that has been a cultural fact for a while, and while it is true to say that the whole fiasco would not have happened if we were more oriented to terrain theory than germ theory, this again does not mean that the  leaders are not responsible for their actions, and the suppression of existing therapies is undoubtedly criminal. Just take a look at a recent study on Vitamin D: the whole mess could have been avoided by teaching people to take adequate vitamin D. If you want, we can add some saline nasal flushes, for another 8x reduction in risk of hospitalization and death. Problem over. Course correction needed.
