In 2021 Florida had passed a Parental Bill of Rights. Other states are considering similar legislation. Even U.S. Senator Hawley has submitted legislation for a Parent’s Bill of Rights. But the question remains, do parents have rights because of legislation, or do parents have rights simply because they are parents? Are these parental bills of rights a protection of our rights, or an attempt to regulate those rights parents already have? In the long run, what are the consequences of this type of legislation?
