Our rights, liberties, and freedoms are under attack in America. Where do we go, what do we do to protect them? For many Americans, the answer is government. We beg governments to pass laws to protect us, we sue in government courts, and when we don’t get justice, we do nothing. Does that describe a free citizen or a subject? When we beg to the government to protect us, we may get a redress of our grievance, or we may get further injury. History has shown that we tend to get a little bit of both.

Today, on The Constitution Study, I want to look at examples of governments infringing on the rights of their citizens while claiming to protect us. I’ll also look at examples of people petitioning the government for a redress of grievance, only to receive an unjust outcome. The bad outcomes are only important because we have abdicated our responsibilities as citizens of a republic and turned ourselves into subjects of an aristocratic class.
