Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive,” Lewis once observed. “It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron’s cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated, but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end, for they do so with the approval of their own conscience. – CS Lewis
In last week’s installment, ‘Phantom and Psychotic: America’s Fascination With Mask-Wearing’ we started down the rabbit hole of mask-wearing for the Covid pandemic, using as a launch point Edgar Allan Poe’s The Casque of Amontillado, where he writes a story about a man taking fatal revenge on someone by immurement, or by walling in, where a person is sealed within an enclosed space with no exits. The person dies of asphyxiation, or starvation. As I documented, we are doing a modern, updated version of the same thing to the populace today with forced mask-wearing, with children particularly affected.
How about, umm… “following the science” on masks?
A policy review paper in Emerging Infectious Diseases in May 2020 reviewed the evidence based on the effectiveness of nonpharmaceutical personal protective measures (masks) … in non-healthcare settings and concluded, based on 10 randomized controlled trials, that there was no significant reduction in influenza transmission with the use of face masks. In fact, a 2019 WHO review – before there was a public to be stampeded, like buffalo, off a cliff of fear – concluded the evidence for mask usage was slim, and improvement might just be due to chance, and a meta-analysis, led by respected researcher Tom Jefferson, on MedRxiv, in April 2020 found mask-wearing in the general population or among health care workers did not reduce influenza-like illness cases or influenza. But if you prefer graphs, Bioengineer Yinon Weiss did that in “These 12 Graphs Show Mask Mandates Do Nothing to Stop COVID“; see his Twitter thread here.
The net of all this? If you are sick, stay home, and don’t count on masks to protect you. Better, keep your vitamin D above 40 ng/mL.
And in the U.S., back last December 2020, researchers from Rational Ground published results of data analysis evaluating the use of masks from all 50 U.S. states, completed by data analysts, computer scientists, and actuaries, who divided the information into states that had mask mandates and those that did not. They looked at data from May 1, 2020, through December 15, 2020, and calculated how many cases per day occurred by population with and without mask mandates. Among states without a mask mandate, 5,781,716 cases were counted over 5,772 days, which worked out to:
I slept through junior high math, so you, dear reader, may need to help me with the math. However, unless you did your schooling under Critical Race Theory, where 2+2= 4 is “racist,” even my bad math tells the story that I needn’t enumerate here. Yet we conduct emotional terrorism on innocent children, who are killing themselves in record numbers… all to do what? Appease the tyrants in government?
Pander to the Big Money in Big Pharma and Big Tech, who are, exactly as Mussolini defined it, fascists (recall that fascism is the merger of the socialist state with co-opted, crony big business… can you say Facebook, Amazon, Croco-Google-odile?). Truth is, these mask mandates and lockdowns are driven by nothing more than fear and ignorance, not science and rational, compassionate thought.
How about a little face time?
Interestingly, the American Academy of Pediatrics used to have resources on the importance of kids seeing faces in child development, but that – just like the Mayo Clinic’s reference to the longevity of 1919 Spanish flu antibodies which did an electronic Houdini vanishing act (but got caught in the act) – magically disappeared. Not to worry! It was just, said the AAP, an unannounced website migration. The AAP has been in the midst of a large migration of content on our website to a new platform, a bulk of which took place this past weekend. A staffer who asked not to be named told Just the News Some content areas, including Early Brain and Child Development, are still being organized before they go live on the new platform. Yep… mendacity, even Jen Psaki wouldn’t have the temerity to try.
Of course, this is not the first embarrassing hypocrisy by the AAP – in summer 2020, the AAP advocated reopening schools for the 2020-2021 school year, but then reversed itself two weeks later, after President Trump had repeatedly cited its recommendations to school districts. And to answer your question, yes, they actually do think us poor Helots in flyover country are indeed that stupid, and that Orwell’s memory hole is a game plan they believe they should adhere to. The full article reviewing the science on what masking does to kids, along with the hypocrisy, is worth a full read here.
Oh yes. Don’t forget the Hollywierd Learjet leftist hypocrisy and their mask-less televised jaunts where they fete themselves with their latest award du jour. So why should a live televised celebrity gala be exempt from COVID rules just because it’s televised? …asked Hot Air, while Jennifer Van Laar wondered why all the crew had to wear a mask all week long (Twitter). Of course, we poor, unwashed massed noticed celebs see the rules as for the little people as the dauntless N.Y. Post wrote about here. And of course, don’t forget the hypocrisy that allowed Magic Johnson to play in the NBA when we didn’t know how contagious AIDS was, but are now forcing NBA players to get the shot if they want to play.
Might we just move all the NBA to China, since they apparently run the whole league anyway? The Mongolia Mavericks, the Shanghai Spurs, the Beijing Bulls? Has kind of a poetic, big money ring to it, doesn’t it!
But it gets worse. When I was young, one of the most widely circulated memes of the day, during the Vietnam war, was by reporter Peter Arnett, where purportedly some soldier told him We had to destroy the village to save it. This was later outed as a fake, but the point of the quote was that it should have been self-evident that you don’t destroy something to “save it.” Maybe somebody ought to tell Mr. Fauci and the mask Nazis that destroying children’s very lives to save them is just similarly absurd. Or, for that matter, so are the BLM/Antifa folks destroying Portland, Seattle, and Kenosha to “save it” for a reprise of USSR-style communism, or at least a Venezuelan or Zimbabwean socialism. Yes, that self-same communism that, per the Black Book of Communism, Harvard Univ Press, murdered over 100 MILLION last century). Apparently, the understanding irony is not the strong suit of either bureaucrat Fauci or the fasco-Marxist left.
To illustrate what we are doing to our kids, Dr. Sherri Tenpenny tells the story of a man who was allergic to masks, so he wore a face shield. While standing in a lineup in a store, a young girl, got very frightened and cried to her mother, Mommy, mommy, that man doesn’t have a mask on! What are we doing to our children?
Oh yes. The Human Rights Act of 1998 says Article 1: Everyone’s right to live shall be protected by law; Article 3: No person shall be subjected to degrading treatment; Article 14: Enjoyment of rights and freedoms without discrimination on grounds of political opinion. Not that the mask Nazis care.
We have a virus where only perhaps half of 1% who get the virus die (most elderly and with co-morbidities created by unhealthy lifestyles; for those under 21 without co-morbidities, the number literally approaches zero, per Dr. Martin Makary at Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Medicine).
Close businesses? Heck, why stop at just destroying children’s lives! While we’re at it, let’s destroy the adults, too! Try 35,000,000+ instantly unemployed when lockdowns started, taking with that self-dignity, self-reliance, and self-respect. A November 2020 report by the University of Southern California that examined the impact of mandatory closures and “partial re-openings” and found at that time these lockdowns could result in a 22% loss of U.S. GDP in just one year and an even greater loss … over two years — amounting to as much as $4.8 trillion in lost GDP. The most economically vulnerable were far less likely to have regained employment once the major lockdowns ended — bad news for children and families already living on the edge. The impact on minority-led businesses was particularly bad. As you might expect, BLM is nowhere to be found on that count. Lifesite News adds about the economic impact, which I quote at length due to its significance:
By June 2021, every single U.S. state had lost more than 25% of its small businesses, with at least four in 10 shuttered small businesses in the hardest-hit states. In the 10 states adhering the most strongly to NPI restrictions, from 33% to 44% of small businesses closed (with the exception of Vermont, at 29.6%). Meanwhile, corporate entities like Amazon and Walmart, which continued operating while smaller businesses were asked to make sacrifices, have scooped up Main Street’s market share and made out like bandits. The two companies’ founders and largest shareholders took home 56% more profits in 2020 compared to the previous year, but — notoriously stingy with their employees — “shared almost none of it with their workers.” The best Amazon seems able to do is to offer “up to $80” to frontline employees who get a COVID shot. The organization Feeding America estimates one in eight Americans — and one in six children, as well as one in five black Americans (yep… BLM missing in action on that one, too!) — could experience food insecurity in 2021. An estimated one in five children went hungry in 2020. Malnutrition in early life can have long-lasting effects on health later in life. According to Feeding America, the people and households most impacted by the NPI-induced economic crisis were already food-insecure or at risk of food insecurity pre-COVID “and are facing greater hardship since COVID.” Feeding America also observes “very low food security” (the most alarming type of food insecurity involving “reduced food intake and disrupted eating patterns”) is likely on the rise. Globally, the economic havoc wreaked by lockdowns and other NPIs has doubled the number of people on the brink of starvation, according to former South Carolina governor and Nobel Peace Prize-winning World Food Programme head David Beasley. U.S. life expectancy dropped by 1-1/2 years in 2020, falling more in the second half of the year than in the first half. Putting the startling statistic in context, a CDC representative explained that ordinarily, mortality changes are “rather gradual,” whereas 2020’s drop was precipitate and “substantial.” She noted the CDC does not expect life expectancy in 2021 to “return to what it was in 2019.” As a direct result of COVID NPIs, studies have pointed to worsening mental health in adolescents and young adults as well as in adults — an effect that manifested almost immediately in spring 2020. Describing the far greater mental health toll of COVID compared to previous “mass traumas,” one news report acknowledged NPIs eliminated one of the “most effective ways of buffering stress … social connection within a community.” Interpersonal support is especially vital for youth, so it is not surprising NPI-related measures such as obligatory online instruction and home confinement — as well as worries about meeting basic needs — have been key triggers for youth depression and anxiety. Data on fatal and nonfatal drug overdoses are starting to reflect the downward mental health trend. For example:
Between May 2019 and May 2020, CDC reported “the highest number of overdose deaths ever recorded in a 12-month period,” with the most deaths recorded between March and May 2020. In related CDC research on overdoses involving prescription benzodiazepines (prescribed for anxiety and insomnia) and illicit “benzos,” overdose deaths increased 21.8% and 519.6%, respectively. More than half (53.8%) of fatal overdoses from illicit benzos and nearly a third (30.7%) of deaths from prescription benzos were in youth aged 15-34 years. Almost all the deaths also involved opioids, and many involved illicitly manufactured fentanyl. Non-prescription fentanyl use increased by 35% from mid-March to mid-May 2020.”
Oh yes. Poison control reports are skyrocketing worldwide over children’s exposure to hand sanitizer chemicals.
In the U.K., Mercola reports psychiatric referrals for first-time psychotic episodes increased 75% between April 2019 and April 2021. Rates of anxiety and depression worldwide increased dramatically in 2020, with estimates suggesting the lockdowns resulted in an additional 76 million cases of anxiety and 53 million cases of major depressive disorder, over and above annual norms, with women and younger individuals being disproportionally affected. Mental health referrals among children have doubled in the U.K. since the start of the pandemic; 16% of children between the ages of 5 and 16 were diagnosed with a mental disorder in 2020, compared to 10.8% in 2017.
It’s gotten so bad, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) — CDC’s parent agency — spent $250 million last September for a PR campaign to “defeat despair and inspire hope.” Better idea: just end the lockdown and let people find their usual support mechanisms like family and faith… not family and faith being in the Brobdingnagian government.
Death by government
Who is doing this, and why? But of course, you, gentle reader, know who, and why. But if for some reason you don’t, might I suggest you take a trip to Davos, Switzerland and the kakistocracy – a term coined several hundred years ago, referring to being governed by is a government-run by the worst, least qualified, or most unscrupulous citizens – that gathers there every year. How do these types live with themselves? How do they look in the mirror at themselves every day? No doubt, like all the other misanthropes before them – Robespierre, Stalin, Pol Pot, Mao, Castro, Venezuela’s Maduro, et al. – they justify themselves by saying they are really doing the greater good, particularly given their bogus Malthusian presuppositions (for more on why I call this bogus, refer to the famed Simon-Ehrlich wager here). And this is why the late Dr. RJ Rummel, Univ. of Hawaii (tough job, but someone had to do it, right?), on his PowerKills website, says governments, mostly leftists, have murdered perhaps 174 million souls last century. The totals are so large that we end up being exactly where Stalin purportedly said we would be with numbers like this: the death of one man is a tragedy; the death of a million is a mere statistic.
I have little doubt the Ozian flying monkeys our elite even monitor humble little stories like this in their Orwellian panopticon dystopia. But here’s the thing: In his book, The Sunflower, Nazi concentration camp survivor Simon Wiesenthal relates a small but searing interaction he had while in a National Socialist German Workers’ Party (Nazi) camp in Poland. There was a Nazi officer who lay dying. While at forced labor on a project at a military hospital, Wiesenthal was approached by a nurse. Are you a Jew? she asked him. Upon affirming so, she led him to the bedside of a dying S.S. officer. Covered in stained bandages with openings for his nose, mouth, and ears, the patient, Karl – in a pain-filled, barely audible, guilt-ridden voice whispers – I know the end is near, and then recounts of his battalion’s coming across about 150 Jews, mostly women and children. The soldiers force them to carry cans of petrol into a deserted house, then crowd them in the house and set it on fire, gruesomely killing the occupants. He then spoke of additional atrocities, and finally sighed and whispered, “My God, my God… the pains in my body are terrible, but worse still is my conscience. …I am left here with my guilt. In the last hours of my life, you are with me. I do not know who you are. I only know that you are a Jew, and that is enough. I want to die in peace, and so I need…” He could not bear to say the word “forgiveness.” Wiesenthal left him without a word.
The truth is, today’s fasco-Marxists will, sooner or later, end up in the exact same state as Karl. Karl murdered perhaps a hundred children, but today’s fasco-Marxist may well end up killing hundreds of thousands of kids with their Covid shots, now being pushed on even five-year-olds, when, in fact, per Dr. Martin Makary, Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Medicine, out of 48,000 (thousand!) insurance records of kids diagnosed with Covid between April 2020 and Aug. 2020 not ONE of the children who died were free of pre-existing medical conditions such as cancer (also see stories on this at a Danish site here or the Principia Scientific International site here.
There can be forgiveness for today’s Karls, but forgiveness is always predicated on confession and repentance. It remains to be seen if the elite are capable of that. But there is a God; there is a judgment, and, as the New Testament tells us, It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God. Perhaps Jeffrey Epstein is aware of that at present. Killing kids and destroying lives quickly – as Karl did – or slowly, as the elite are doing with masks and shots, will always leave everyone on the wrong side of history here, and in the end, and on the wrong side of God’s judgment seat and eternity at the “final’ end.
