On Tuesday, November 15, Russia fired 90 missiles into Ukraine. It was initially thought that two of those missiles strayed into neighboring Poland, and two people were killed in the strike, which hit a small village in south-eastern Poland along the Ukrainian border. The government of Poland immediately went into an emergency session because of the “crisis situation.” But many questions still remained unanswered.
Russia’s war against Ukraine has been going on for more than eight months, and it’s not getting any better. Putin’s illness, from all reports, is likely to be terminal, so one of the questions that come up on the show is, “what will he do before he dies”?
Will he agree to a summit to try to defuse the situation? And another is whether Poland will invoke NATO’s Article Five, which calls for the collective defense of member states? That means that all 29 members are committed to engaging Russia in defense of Poland.
Intelligence analyst Ilana Freedman joins Malcolm on The Voice of a Nation as they talk about this potentially explosive situation.
