How politicians can become multimillionaires on nothing more than a government salary is a question that has baffled many voters. One voter who is now a congressional candidate from New Jersey thinks he has the answer and has a plan to end it.

Billy Prempeh is an Air Force Veteran running for Congress in New Jersey’s 9th Congressional District. He says he finds it troubling that elected officials serving the people end up becoming millionaires after long stints in the government. He tells “After Dark” that if elected he plans to introduce his 8-10-12 legislative plan. His plan is in line with the president serving two terms of 8 years if elected. However, it changes the amount of time for representatives and senators. They would only be able to serve 10 and 12 years (and no more) respectively if elected.

Too many politicians have made their political jobs their careers while enriching themselves in the process. Citing his opponent Bill Pascrell’s political career. Pascrell, he says, has been in office since 1997 and has made little to no changes in his district of Patterson, NJ. Before serving in Congress he was mayor of the city and had served on the General Assembly. The city has a high crime rate and jobless rate and the education level is no better. Prempeh said if he is elected he will change all of this by focusing on education reform and working with corporations to bring in jobs and trade schools for children who don’t go to college.

The 31-year-old Air Force veteran said once he has served the people in his district and completed the mission he plans to leave office “riding off into the sunset at 39” to enjoy the rest of his life.

Billy Prempeh was born in Paterson, New Jersey. He is the son of Ghanaian immigrants. He is a veteran having served in the United States Air Force from 2009 to 2011. He was stationed at RAF Mildenhall England, UK specializing as an Aerospace Ground Equipment Journeyman (2A6X2). He supports the 2nd Amendment and its pro-life candidate. He is a strong believer in terms limits for members of Congress. Prempeh received an associate degree from the Community College of the Air Force in 2010.
