Politicians are not only allowed to lie; they are expected to. We know the media focuses on the exception, not the every day. They even have a term for it, the “Man Bites Dog Story.” When was the last time a politician fulfilling a campaign promise wasn’t treated as a “Man Bites Dog” story? So I doubt any of you will be surprised that the politicians in the stories I will go over today are lying.
But rather than just shaking your head in disgust, I want you to consider the following question.
How can you tell when a politician is lying?
The answer I generally get is similar to “Their lips are moving!” While that might be quite a statement about the character of politicians, consider this. What does it say about the American people that we knowingly hire people who are lying to us to exercise our powers in our name? And, that the ones who lie the best, we keep around the longest?
Perhaps these lying politicians will pay the consequences when they arrive at the gates of hell.
