William Shakespeare’s Hamlet once asked, “To be, or not to be, that is the question: Whether ’tis nobler in the mind to suffer the slings and arrows of outrageous fortune, Or to take arms against a sea of troubles and by opposing end them.” While Hamlet was lamenting his stock in life versus death, the question can easily be posed when looking at the political career of former President Donald J. Trump. Is there a second act for the former president? Better yet, are voters ready for a Trump redux?
The hosts of “After Dark With Rob And Andrew” address these questions and others in a discussion about the future of the Republican Party and the 45th president. Both hosts acknowledge the existence of a huge Trump base intact following the 2020 election debacle. Citing huge crowds at his recent rallies as evidence of support, it seems Trump is the person to beat. Further proof of his hold on the party, is recent polling showing him as the favorite over popular governors Ron DeSantis (FL) and Kristi Noem (SD). So it seems Trump would have an easy run at it, but then there are the perils that come with a Trump run.
During the last election, the media and big tech were both instrumental in creating chaos with suppression of information and acting as a propaganda arm for the Democrats. Trump, to his credit, often stepped on his messaging in an attempt, too, as those surrounding him said, “Let Trump Be Trump.” But will, and can that rally cry work this time around? In the final analysis⏤it’s anyone’s guess, but the party does need a Trump or a Trump persona if it is to win in 2024. The hosts end the show with the ubiquitous hot topics discussions on election integrity, CRT, Cuba, the border, and the GOP fighting back. This is an hour of discussion you don’t want to miss.
