Ricky Rebel is not your typical singer. There is nothing typical about him. He supported President Donald Trump; he is a fiscal conservative when it comes to the economy but is liberal when it comes to fashion, music, and art. He’s also a member of the LGBTQ community, and he says “After Dark With Rob and Andrew” that he has lost friends because of his political stance, which he says is a “reflection of America.” The singer explained that “sexuality has nothing to do with laws, taxes, more jobs, energy independence or stronger borders.” Rebel said these are all basic concerns that all Americans should have, including members of the LGBTQ community. Besides liking the 45th president’s personality and his approach to governing, he said he was drawn to him and his supporters because they were treated as outcasts from the left⏤something he identified with growing up in the 80s and 90s as a gay person.
Ricky (Godinez) Rebel is a Billboard Top 40 recording artist who has been signed with Michael Jackson’s MJJ custom label at Sony and Madonna’s Maverick label. He has performed throughout the USA, Japan, United Kingdom, and festivals, including The Cannes Film Festival and SXSW. He has toured with Britney Spears and performed during the Demand Free Speech Rally in front of the White House and the American Priority Festival at the Trump Doral in Miami. During the 61st Annual Grammy Awards, he wore a pro-Donald Trump jacket. Rebel is quoted as telling one news outlet his reason for wearing the jacket “I’m reflecting millions of Americans out there who voted for Trump. I’m a reflection of America.” His 2017 documentary ‘Rebels Only‘ was nominated for Best Music Documentary at the Out Web Fest Awards.
