The chickens have come home to roost in Rep. Angie Craig’s (D-Minn.) coop. Direct victimization is essential to awaken some people to see their own stupidity. That’s just what happened to Craig last week when she was attacked in an elevator at her Washington, D.C. apartment by a long-time criminal who’s never been punished.

Her assailant Kendrick Hamlin, a homeless man, was again arrested after physically attacking Craig. Hamlin has been arraigned over a dozen times for multiple crimes, including assaulting police officers who arrested him, according to one source.

I do not rejoice when a politician suffers personal criminal violence. But this is an exemplary case of poetic justice. Rep. Craig’s district director, Liz Young, tweeted in June 2020, cities should “fund counselors, not cops.” She even suggested burning down a Minneapolis police station. Rep. Craig didn’t hire this person by accident; she had to have supported Young’s views. So I am very pleased that she finally received a dose of her own medicine, and happy she wasn’t seriously hurt by the attack.

What does the assaulted Craig say now? “We have to think about how in the world we can make sure we’re not just letting criminals out.” Her chief of staff, Nick Coe, stated Craig was “grateful to the DC Metropolitan Police Department for their quick response.” Lucky for her, they hadn’t been all defunded.

Rep. Craig went on to say, “We have to get these repeat offenders off the streets.”

And just how does she propose “we” do this? Unfortunately, most liberals remain clueless about real justice. Recidivists on the street are a blaring sign of a failed Department of Justice. We shouldn’t be trying to get repeat offenders off the streets. The parental flaw of “I’m going to count to three” doesn’t work very well, for either a child or a criminal. We must swiftly and justly punish first-time offenders so that we minimize repeat offenders.

Don’t count on this deficient congresswoman to change anything. She is incapable. She is herself a product of a messed-up government and a fallen society. In 2018, Craig was the first “proud” lesbian mother of four sons to be elected to the House. The new normal standard would say, “What’s wrong with that?” Common sense and basic real psychiatry tell us she’s got baggage. She has been subjected to emotional trauma. I sympathize. But that’s not the point. The crux of the matter is that someone having a dysfunctional moral and ethical compass can never lay out a clear picture of how to fix the soft-on-crime cancer that has spread throughout America’s judicial system.

It means Angie Craig has a very high probability of another assault.

Change often comes slowly. Hours after her attack, Craig, along with 31 other Democrats (Shocking!), voted against the Revised Criminal Code Act that lowers punishment severity for serious violent crimes such as homicide and armed robberies. What does that mean? Not much. The D.C. area is fraught with crime resulting from an impotent police force that does its thankless job the best it can, but without any government support. Crime is escalating everywhere. Isn’t that what our rogue Communist government wants? Lawlessness and chaos are powerful tools used to control a fearful and weary population. “Keep them afraid! is their motto. The perverse government majority doesn’t want you to be able to defend yourself. They need you to feel helpless. Hopeless. Hope is dangerous. Self-sufficiency thwarts their plans to crush our spirit.

Another congressman shows much better insight and wisdom than Rep. Craig. Pat Fallon (R-Texas) told Newsmax a plain fact: “Criminals are the problem.” The statistics he cites are impressive. Despite having 400 million guns in America today, the gun murder rate is only 5 per 100,000. That’s half of what it was in 1980 when we had about 295 million guns in our country. So gun ownership clearly is not the problem.

Don’t be deceived. The Democrats and RINOs know this is true, but they don’t want you to know it. How else could they proceed with their public disarmament campaign to render the people — and the people’s government — powerless?

The problem with crime is so utterly simple to fix; it’s a wonder our mastermind politicians haven’t yet discovered it. Punish criminals! Stop making excuses for them. Stop punishing victims of crime. Don’t label inanimate objects (guns, knives, autos, poisonous chemicals) as crime perpetrators, or “assault” weapons. Lay the blame where it belongs, and punish the human who committed the criminal act.

Now, in the land of Woke, the meaning and use of words change. (Gender was once a grammatical term.) So let’s define the word punish. The Brittanica Dictionary defines punish as, “to make (someone) suffer for a crime or for bad behavior.” The key word is “suffer.” A criminal who faces no consequences for his crime has no remorse, and no reason to repent. Impunity is itself a reward for a criminal act. That’s exactly why the hoards of illegals charge our borders. No punishment invites more crime.

This is exactly why an armed citizen protects his home and family. A lawful citizen with a gun most certainly is a threat, not to society, but to those who would threaten a righteous person’s life and liberty. A law-abiding armed citizen scares a criminal. A citizen bearing arms is a deterrent to lawlessness, and a boon to a peace-loving, orderly society.

So it is with a renegade state. The devil fears justice. A rogue government fears an armed people, as they should! This explains the present Leftist establishment’s push to disarm us. Only a blind fool cannot see the deception of banning guns. Every dangerous city in America is plagued with gun-control laws and a politician-handicapped police force. But these dangerous cities are intentionally created in order to dupe the people into believing all criminal activity is caused by “guns.”

We would benefit greatly from observing Old Testament principles of justice. “Whoever kills a person, the murderer shall be put to death on the testimony of witnesses… and you shall take no ransom for the life of a murderer who is guilty of death, but he shall surely be put to death” (Numbers 35:30-32). Capital punishment was intended to protect the innocent. Murder, by definition, is the killing of an innocent human being. This is why abortion is murder. Who could be more innocent than an unborn child?

We are given hundreds of Bible examples of appropriate punishments for many unlawful acts. America’s biblical illiteracy has gravely hindered our concepts of justice. And now our government even hails crime, rewards deception, and even participates in the most evil and far-reaching crimes of our century. We are a cursed people for lack of justice.

The biased media does its best to hide all crime. When someone like Donald Trump suggests bringing back law and order, they skewer him on social media. The repugnant propagandist network Rolling Stones says in a February 2023 article that former President Trump wants to bring back “banned methods of execution” that include “death by firing squad, by hanging, and… possibly even by guillotine.” They claim he also wants group executions. And he wants them televised. Naturally, the cheap shot comes from three anonymous sources. A Trump spokesperson called the allegations “ridiculous.”

But would such measures be ridiculous? If you wholly side with Rolling Stones, you have been successfully indoctrinated. Remember, the definition of punishment includes making someone suffer for a crime they committed. Justice is God’s payback through legal government channels. It is not personal revenge. Public hangings have been used for millennia. On 16 October 1946, ten of twelve convicted Nazi criminals were assigned to death by public hanging, following the Nuremberg trials. Many criticized the “botched” hangings for a number of reasons, which debate I will leave to historians. But the fact remains that these men were butchers of fellow humans, men who mercilessly tortured, maimed, and experimented on Jewish prisoners for the mere sake of inflicting pain and suffering. The villains received their due justice on earth, and then they faced God.

Is public execution a bad thing? Everyone has their own feelings about this. But nowhere in Scripture can we find an example of private capital punishment. If deterrent power is to be maximized, public executions would serve a good cause. Dignity should be maintained at all times during an execution, but why hide the consequences of heinous crimes? Excluding young children who shouldn’t view execution, everyone would find such a viewing repulsive — and purposeful. That’s the intent. “Ye be warned! Do likewise, and you shall likewise perish!” Isn’t that the right message to convey to all of society?

If it would turn them from a life of crime, it’s a message I’d be grateful for my own children to receive. And if any child of mine failed and committed a crime, I should praise a government that renders his recompense, hopefully preventing more serious future violations of the law. This should be the mindset of every responsible parent.

If President Trump wishes to begin punishing crime, I say bring it on! If he wishes to “televise” or otherwise publicly display just punishment, so be it. Suck it up, men and women. How much death and destruction do we already view daily on social media? You will be blessed by a much more peaceful society if potential criminals see what’s coming for them. You’ll again be able to walk the streets at night. Your children would again be permitted to enjoy the neighborhood playground without you dreading their abduction. You might even come to understand the words, “Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord” (Psalm 33:12).

Perhaps it will take more politicians suffering from the blighted seeds they have sown before laws will again favor the innocent. Until that time, I’ll keep praying for congressmen like Angie Craig to come to their right mind and abide by God’s design in their own lives. A life of hypocrisy always exposes itself. When hypocrisy becomes endemic in government, nothing will change for the better until the evil swamp is drained.

The year 2023 surely will be a year to remember. I fully anticipate a year of much suffering and many tears, but blessings sometimes do come through much pain, even if self-induced. What’s important is that we learn the lesson that all choices have consequences. And we shouldn’t cry out when we suffer by our own hands. Thank you, Angie Craig, for teaching us a great life lesson!
