Fool me once; shame on you. Fool me twice; shame on me. Fool me 10,000 times; I’m probably an American voter.

I don’t think most Americans realize just how much trust we place in government. We trust law enforcement and those in the executive branch to follow the law, we trust courts to seek justice, and we trust legislatures to pass laws within their delegated powers. In short, we trust that those in government will fulfill their oath of office to support the Constitution of the United States. Based on recent events, should we trust those in government?

And before you throw your hands up in frustration, ask yourself, what happens if we, as a people, continue to do nothing? What happens if we cannot trust those we trust to exercise our inherent powers for us? What can we do to restore those in government to their role as public servants rather than masters?
