As the SARS-CoV-2 outbreak has spread worldwide, it is interesting to note it appears that no region or even the smallest island has been spared exposure to the potentially deadly virus. This raises the issue of how the virus penetrates into relatively closed societies with very little movement of people in and out of remote regions.
This issue of the McCullough Report is brought to you from Nassau, the Bahamas, where Dr. McCullough was hosted by former Olympian swimmer Andy Knowles and leading physician Dr. Denotrah Archer-Cartwright, of OPTIMIST: Offering Preventive Therapeutic Interventional Medicines Increasing Safety & Trust, a Bahamian affiliate organization to the World Council for Health.
This group has brought together physicians, attorneys, leaders of faith, and community leaders to voice their concerns and set a path forward on pandemic response.1 They have been involved in radio, TV, and live programs bringing the truth about COVID-19 to the people of the 17 family islands in the Bahamas.
Only two Islands have hospitals, so as we will learn, early treatment has been essential to reduce the need for inter-island transfer and hospitalization. Fortunately, the abundant fresh air, outdoor lifestyle, and plenty of sunshine and vitamin D appear to have played essential roles in keeping the case counts and casualties in the COVID-19 battle down to a minimum like so many countries in the near-equatorial regions of the world.
Dr. Archer-Cartwright is our special and exclusive guest on the backside of the McCullough Report. Dr. McCullough’s Twitter feed @P_McCulloughMD was reviewed for key papers on the pandemic response, so be sure to check this out for the citations and key figures from the manuscripts.2
