One of your rights protected by the First Amendment to the Constitution is your right to petition, to ask government for a redress of your grievances. This right is often overlooked, not just by government, but by the people as well. Federal courts use the concepts of sovereign or qualified immunity to protect government actors from the consequences of their bad actions. Congress has tried to protect certain industries by granting them immunity from both state and federal laws. So, where does that leave your right to seek a redress for your grievances? Thankfully, a little bit of education shows these actions for what they truly are, illegal violations of the Constitution of the United States of America.
